Bacon is great, but definitely overrated as a burger topping. So many places throw bacon on nearly every specialty burger, I'd much rather have them w/o by default and pay a dollar or so less (not like they drop the price if you simply request no bacon).

Topic is making me want a good BLT, though.

I love bacon, and I love cheeseburgers, but bacon doesn't add much to a burger, unlike say jalapenos or bell peppers

I like bacon, so Ill take it all if you guys dont want it. It just makes many burgers better, IMO Not needed, but definitely appreciated That said, I dont like many other toppings one a burger. Like Im not big on most burger veggies Ill take mushroom, but only on a mushroom swiss For example

The problem is that most places overcook the bacon and it has no flavor.

Bacon is overshadowed in a cheeseburger.

Only if the bacon is crispy is it good on burger imo.

Id rather have an egg on a burger than bacon. The yolk adds so much to the flavor.

While I do like egg, it really has to go with the burger Sometimes, it works amazingly well Other times, not so much

In reverse it tastes like a salad first before for burger, and I don't like that

I often add bacon onto burgers, and pretty much every time when I'm done eating I think to myself "did I even taste the bacon?" I just never learn my lesson.

This has always been my opinion. It just gets lost in the rest of it and I dont normally taste it in there.

The first ~20 images I'm seeing have more on the bottom than on the top.

I put them on top until I worked at a burger joint where we put them on the bottom. Much better for keeping the bottom bun from becoming a soggy mess.

Where do you get a burger made like that? I havent been to many, if any, places that make burgers like that. Also, why would it taste like a salad first? I usually put my burger on top in my tongue, so I taste the burger first since the burger is in my tongue, and the toppings are on top

Raw red onion is the best burger topping, but bacon can be good.

For me, Im very plain. My burger would be:

Top bun
Any sauces I want
Bacon
Cheese
Burger
Bottom bun

The bacon and sauces are interchangeable. Any else I want to add depends on what kind of burger it is. But that stuff up there is good enough for me

I usually prefer my patties on the bottom so the taste of it hits first then the onset of counter flavors and textures.

That said, I agree with the bacon being overshadowed and just becoming a "feel good" option. I've had a few though where the bacon makes the burger...

I could see putting the lettuce on bottom but that's about it.

Stack too much shit on the bottom and the grease absorption is undermined by completely ruining the foundation of the burger.

the second slice of cheese put on the bottom of the burger protects the bun from getting soggy
i feel that 1 slice of cheese gets lost in the other flavors so you need 2
