Do you expect West to, say, rise taxes and send money to Ukraine, because they don't have their own citizens living in poverty? When Europe was in financial crisis - how many countries did the West prop up?

In case people didn't know, the whole "CIA did a Ukraine coup in 2014" is basically solely based on Oliver Stone's "Ukraine on Fire" doc.

The same people that hate Hollywood elites will mindlessly parrot anything that Stone, who defended HARVEY WEINSTEIN, says. All he did was interview Yanukovych, who claimed there were 'assassination attempts' against him (???), and let him lie about who was responsible for violence at Euromaidan protests - when it was he himself who sent police out to shoot protestors. How do you make a documentary without gaining the perspective of both sides? You'll interview the politician that literally ran away and hid in his mansion with a private zoo? But you won't interview the protestors or other politicians? Total shite.

Ukraine's ousting of Yanukovych is no different than a vote of non-confidence here in Canada. He lied to his own people about signing an EU Agreement, instead taking a bailout from Moscow. When people protested this, he fled and sent the police in. People might mock the overzealous championing of Zelensky, but there are obvious reasons why he gets more respect from his people than prior leaders.

I spent the last two years consuming RT (Russia Today) and digging into them. They're fascinating, like Fox on steroids. People will try to equate them to CNN, but let's be objective. CNN is gutter-trash, but reports on American war crimes when they are discovered - Abu Ghraib being a prime example of a war crime during an American invasion.

When the Russian army or political figures supported by Russia do war crimes (shooting down a commercial airline, the Assad government's gassing of its own civilians), they will actively present a variety of conspiracy theories and deflect any responsibility, refusing to acknowledge the reported reality. These are not the same.

Wealth isn't his motive. He's been very clear about his goal. He wants Ukraine. Russia's economy is trashed and likely will never recover so long as he is in power and until Russia can prove it's different.

While war profiteering exists and likely has existed since the first war ever, it is not the 'cause' of every war by a long shot. Putin wanted Ukraine because he wants to rebuild the USSR and make Russia a super power again. He also is extremely paranoid in regards to NATO and believes it's a hostile organization meant to attack Russia because he has a mindset stuck in the Cold War. He also believed Ukraine to be weak and it's population eager to rejoin Russia but oppressed by a corrupt capitalist regime. So he planned to invade, topple a weak and unpopular government, and then either annex a former part of the USSR or gain a buffer state against potential future invasion. Money is not, and never was, his motive. However, having his economy tanked means he can't pay his troops, can't replace any lost gear or provide food for his troops, and even if he wins he'll be left with a nation barely capable of feeding itself if even that. So yes, targeting his economy is a very painful blow, but he's not in it for the money. He needs the economy to support his real goal however.

Russia is not giving up on Kiev. Ukraine has been amassing the bulk of its forces in the East. That's causing severe supply chain issues for the Russians. They're likely going to focus on breaking up those forces so they're less reliant on moving troops and materials through Crimea and Belarus.
You guys really need to read up on military strategy. The shit they tell you on the news is mostly bullshit and propaganda. Remember when they were reporting that Russia was pulling its troop back from the Ukrainian border? Yeah, two days later they invaded. Putin is far too invested in this to back out now.
