I've lost 6 of the 8 invasion fingers I've had on this character to connection errors because you lose the item when that happens. And when I do get in, half the time it's dudes ganking at the boss door and then either way the battle is decided by who procs Rotten Breath first

I can't play online anyway since From Software still haven't fixed the glitch on PC for REC

But I never saw invasions as fun
I tried to invade a few times in DS3 and it was either gank squads or else just the player clearly wasn't interested and I'd leave the world somehow

Thats what it's always been for invasions. If you want 1v1 just find a discord or something where they set up duels.

First, you can get a permanent bloody finger and it isn't that hard.

Second, invaders have no right to bitch about getting ganked. The only reason to invade, besides a quest to get the permanent bloody finger, is to grief other players. Don't fucking complain about getting a taste of your own medicine, it's not a good look. Don't like it, don't invade. Simple.

call comcast and tell them you want to 'git gud'

Every time I get invaded I always get a helper summoned to help me.

I was doing to advance Varres questline, don't be a baby, the game explicitly encourages you to succeed at least once

I threw myself off a cliff after invading all 3 times and it advanced his quest line. He never specifies that you need to be successful

That said, I have a weird love hate relationship with invaders. On the one hand, I think it's an interesting system and I'm glad they've kept it around. On the other hand, I've never felt too much empathy for the complaints of invaders when no one asked you to come into their world. Duels are different, but in an invasion, there are no rules and each side has one singular goal: eliminate the other person by any means necessary, gank squad included

I do worry sometimes that the odds are too far in the favor of hosts now, and that people will be discouraged entirely from invading, and that would be shitty imo
