Ive always took gamer to mean enthusiast, and I havent considered myself one for a good number of years now.

Like Ill go catch the occasional Marvel movie but Im not a Marvel fan.

I've always considered myself a gamer. Not just video games though.

This, board and table top games can be fun social time with friends, family, and new people.

Gamer just feels one of those cheesy, corny industry terms they came up with to brand something like foodie.

Pretty much. I love playing video games but I don't really talk about it much with anyone in real life.

Most people I know in real life know me as someone who's really into music. I doubt anyone thinks of me as a "gamer" despite the fact that it's one of my primary hobbies.

I would've considered myself a "gamer" more in my teen years. Now I'm a year short of 30 and I couldn't call myself nearly as much of a "gamer" as I used to be. The ol' work and life getting in the way of all that free time I used to have.

I never called myself a gamer or liked the term, but, I at least used to consider myself: Someone who likes games.

I just saw no need to join into that label/club.

I don't think it's the perfect word but I won't say anything for now.

I like being toxic and hostile. Hopefully someday I can get into a real fist fight over how I treat other players.

The name was always ridiculed, because the only place that used the term gamer before the worst generation was pathetic clueless marketing.

The worst generation was just so fucking worthless and stupid that they swallowed that shit hook line and sinker.

Probably why the big business strategy of the seventh gen was replacing us with the dipshits who's previous hobby was playing in traffic and eating paint chips.

Mainly because I dont play comptetitively so I dont consider myself a gamer. I also dont put in a lot of time per year gaming these days. Less than 500 hours a year atm.

I play a lot of video games. it is what it is. I dunno. the sorts of people who'd get angry / annoyed / whatever at me just for that I can't say I'm super concerned about talking to in the first place

There was a time I'd have called myself a gamer, but yeah the term is so toxic nowadays I wouldn't even if I did more than casual gaming.
