Choice of actors wasn't the problem. It was George's writing and direction. Not even Daniel Day Lewis could have made some of that dialogue work.

I thought Hayden did pretty good. He wasn't the worse part of those movies. I've said it before: for how much praise Natalie Portman gets as an actress, this is one of her most stilted roles.

I'm excited to see him return as Anakin.

This. I didn't really have a problem with Hayden, he gets too much crap for doing the best he could.
My main problem with the movie was the plot and character development anyway.

Like, it wasn't, but the way people speak about it its as if he's a hugely accomplished actor who just flopped because Lucas is a hackfraud.

I've seen some other stuff Hayden's been in and he's really nothing special.

But Dark Hallberg would definitely have been a better choice for Anakin.

My issue with Hayden was that his voice was too nasal. We had James Earl Jones voice him, then it degraded down to someone who sounds like Hayden. Someone with a deeper voice would have been a far better choice on that fact alone.
