I think he just isn't able to let go of football as long as he can still play well. A lot of QBs go until it's apparent they can't play anymore. Favre's last season he was trash, Peyton's last season he was trash, Brees' last 2 seasons he kept getting hurt and couldn't throw more than like 30 yards down the field.

Brady was still able to push it downfield last year so he'll probably keep going until he looks like a corpse

I think people get married to their job or hobbies and when they divorce them, they immediately can only think about them again and regret their decision because they don't know what else to do with themselves. Getting hobbies is easy as a teen or 20-something. But you get older and set in your ways. So, on the outside even though it seems like you can do whatever you want with all the money, it doesn't matter when all you do is think about how you're leaving all you ever known behind.
