The Ukrainians are fighting very well and Kherson remains the only notable loss, so far. The Russians grievously outnumber them and have better tech/more ruthless leadership, but seem bedeviled by morale and supply problems that probably cannot be resolved, and have already committed the bulk of their army. They're definitely getting desperate, and that makes them even more dangerous.

Seems alot of folks are fine with Ukraine (and inevitably other countries) being sacrificial lambs for Putin as long as he doesn't do anything to inconvenience or endanger them personally.

Best to just remember names whenever any of those people express hardship or loss in their lives, and then let apathy beget apathy.

Every single one of us would go at Putin if he was personally harming our family, damn his threats and the geopolitical situation.

There is a difference between aligning yourself with putin and realizing that both traditional and social media in the US has been diving headlong into trying to drum this up as a big brave underdog struggle while reposting every bit of propaganda Ukraine has been putting out to encourage their troops as fact. It's a way more pleasant story for people to read than the reality of a gigantic army slowly rolling over a smaller country bit by bit while we give them guns and watch

They were always gonna take Ukraine or force such one sided terms that it would be pretty much a victory in the traditional sense. Whether they have to deal with an insurgency that bleeds them over time is another matter.

Ukraine as feisty as they are were always outmatched in a traditional war situation, that's just a fact. The "loss" people talk about is one of reputation on Russia's part. Their military looks inept and undertrained, it's frankly an embarrassment. Pretending not to understand this is dishonest.
