You know, the opinion thing is just way overdone. What is the thought process and conclusion in itself? That's important, not merely that a thought process was had.

I think it's too much of a Pandora's Box situation if we start opening doors on how to justify intense abuse and/or violence based on political disagreements. You don't have to like somebody's opinion, but there's really no purpose behind vitriolic statements designed only to be as offensive and dehumanizing as possible toward somebody who disagrees with you politically.

Not quite accurate.

The argument is, and there is history behind it. No supreme court justices have been confirmed (or virtually none) when the president is a different party than the controlling party in the Senate in the final two years of the president's term.

It's not a law but a sort of tradition.

Republicans controlled Senate after Scalia died. No hearings for Obama's nominee.
Kavanaugh and Barret came in the last two years of Trump's admin, but Republicans controlled the executive and senate.

I know its minuatia and I am not saying it is the transcendentally "right" thing. I just want to properly contextualize the situation.
