How do you think your intelligence ranks compared to the rest of CE?

Also, if you like, you can post what you think this number would be vs the general population.

The posters below me are dumb

On one hand, CE's pretty dumb
on the other, I willingly post on CE

Im clever, but not that clever.

Id say 50%, maybe.

Of the voters so far, 20 out of 22 people think they are in the top 50%.

I understand why people might think this, but it is an interesting psychological phenomenon. I think many studies have reproduced that much more than half of any population thinks they are in the top 50% of that population over certain metrics like intelligence.

Maybe 50 percent.

Technically my IQ test said I was smarter than 99.7% of the general population. I do think CE skews slightly more intelligent. This isn't really a complement to CE but a dig on the general population.

Knowing how distributions work, even a slight shift to the distribution can mean a moderately large change in a person's overall percentile rank.

It's hard to imagine that puts me under the 90th percentile, but idk, I think most of CE graduated college which implies a fairly big shift from the mean. Still I can pretty confidently say I'm more intelligent than 75% based on my test.

I'll be honest. I've seen some incredibly dumb people here.

But I've also seen many intelligent and well educated people.

I voted I'm smarter than at least 50% of CE.

Probably not by much but I'm pretty sure I'm at least slightly above average.

I feel like I'm definitely above average compared to the general public.

Im probably in the bottom 10%. Not even as a joke.

We talking understanding people and how the world works. Probably top 15%.

I never took pride in the former and low-key put a lot of pride into the latter. Then again, because Im into psychology, I'm also semi paranoid Im just another person who convinced myself of being more aware than I am. I don't understand how you can be 100% sure you're not doing that. You can't diagnose yourself of a lack of self awareness.

im not very smart at all. i found this out the hard way during my experience in a work environment that relies a lot on troubleshooting problems. i'm so naive :(

I mean, that doesn't mean you're all around dumb. It just means that's not playing to your strengths. People here sometimes tell me I said something insightful, yet I can't put together a ping pong table without getting frustrated and quitting lol. My comprehension skills are trash. But Im observant

I'm dumber than a box of rocks so voted <99%. It's the abundance of insightful and edifying topics and responses from such a rarefied stratum of society that keep bringing me back to this board.

The funny thing is the majority of CE were very poor students who excused themselves by saying they didn't try. Their sense of intelligence comes from purposefully looking for echo chambers to prop up their own beliefs, and automatically assuming people who disagree are dumb.

yeah, I can understand this. my old line of work definitely tested a different type of intelligence. I was really envious of a few of my coworkers that seemed to be quick learners and efficient workers. one, in particular, would probably be considered dumb as rocks here and other nerdy sites (he was a guy that actively sought sexual encounters on craigslist during work trips to Las Vegas, Nevada without care for stds [he told me plenty of greasy stories] ) but when it came to troubleshooting and repair he was among the best in my workplace.

Well, I have multiple degrees, I'm self-employed, and I'm not striving for a $15 minimum wage. I don't claim to be the smartest here, but I'm probably at least 90th percentile.
