Like, they're talking English. I can clearly hear him say "Sticky Fingers" but this is apparently being translated as "Zipper Man" what the fuck why? It's not just that one but literally every one of them has a horribly wrong name.

That's in every season. They can't use the band/song names.

yeah what they said above. i prefer the japanese voices for that reason, less noticeable (plus they just sound cool as fuck)
edit oh reading your post i guess you could be watching the nippon subs anyway because they do all the names in english anyway lol

did you start on part 5 and skip all the previous parts where they were doing the same thing for every song and band name? shame on you

They did not do it for Killer Queen / Bites the Dust.

I wasn't paying that much attention to the other names as much though.

There's some minor things in parts 1-3. Four actually has a bunch. Five goes full on goofy with the name changes and it becomes part of the charm. Six is continuing in that direction from what's on Netflix atm.

The dub even goes further. Killer Queen becomes Deadly Queen for example. I can't remember if Pole Jam is in both or just the dub. Stuff like that.

It's hilarious the antagonists are just Italian words for food. Zucchero = sugar, Formaggio = cheese etc. Pesci is fish which is apt for his fishing pole stand lol

Crunchyroll did do that for Killer Queen, and I'm 99% sure that Netflix uses the same names in the subtitles that Crunchyroll did.

That's been happening in literally every single part that's had those music references, all the way back to part 3 with Centerfold (originally J. Geil), Dan Of Steel (originally Steely Dan) and more. The official subtitles have always been doing that for copyright reasons. The only way you could have had subtitles that completely matched the original names from the Japanese version was if you were pirating it with fansubs.

Nah I've been Marathon watching all of JoJo and Netflix did it right for part 4 as far as I can tell.
