Which one would you pick?

I guess fork. Spork sounds good, but I don't think it would work well with all foods I need a fork for. But I've use a fork as a fork, and kind of like a knife before. So that seems like it should work... And I can drink soups, so it should be fine...

Forks easily. Loss of knives and straws would suck though. I dont often use spoons and i pretty much never use the rest of the list.

Spoon can scoop.. but not very useful in a fight or survival situation..

Has to be a (metal) spoon. It can still cut thru things, scoop and you can eat soupy things well with it.

Chopsticks.

A fork is the most useful. Anything you "need" a spoon for you could just drink directly from the bowl.

Hard choice between a knife or a spoon.

I can eat most things with just my hands and often did before getting married. I can eat steak without a knife (just bite into it) but a knife sure makes it easier. The knife is good to cut pizza and may other things and you can spear things with a knife as well (potatoes etc).

If this included actually cooking the food (IE I can't use a knife to cut things to cook) then knife wins easily.

That being said, most of the things I would not eat with my hands, involve using a spoon. Cereal, oatmeal, soups, ice cream etc. You could do ice cream with a knife I guess but it would be a bit dangerous.

So, blah, as long as I can still use a knife to actually cook with (and it does say just eating utensil), I would go with a spoon. In theory you can get a nice metal spoon and kinda cut things with it anyway.

Chopsticks, kudasai. I love the art it demands to wield them. But on the minus side, I may eat only solids.

I think the fork is most versatile. U can eat rice and pastas with it. Can make it work for ice cream too. Most foods are soft enough to cut with it once cooked like potatoes and many meats. Be tough to cut steak with though, but knives have too many foods u can't eat with them. 0

Wouldnt need to. He said things you need a spoon for. So things like soup, for instance. But with rice, you dont need a spoon. For example, I always use a fork for rice

In my case, I reject having the knife on this list because the knife is a tool that far exceeds just an eating utensil. Granted, eating with 2 knives in the pre-fork times was the height of sophistication, but we're like half a milenium past those days. 90% of foods I can think of off the top of my head can be eaten with chopsticks if prepared correctly. Soups, stews and cereals can simply be slurped from the bowl. Plus, chops are probably the easiest to make from scratch with a variety of simple materials.

Bamboo and wood are nearly ubiquitous, and if we've lost the technology to have knives, I worry about fire making as a technology, because how are you preparing the food you're eating in the first place at that point?

So, let it soak a little first. Then scoop some cereal in your mouth, and think drink some milk out the bowl

Fork. If I cant use a fork then I can drink it.

Out of the listed options, a fork seems the most practical. It can puncture (like a knife), scoop (like a spoon), cut (with less difficulty than a spoon, but less reliably than a knife), and carry. The only area you completely lose out on is scooping liquids.

Granted, knives can kinda scoop and carry, but balance is more of an issue.

Honestly, most sporks are just glorified spoons.
