There is a mud called 3k (short for 3 kingdoms) which I have played more than any other game in my life and more than anyone has played a game in this thread by a large margin so far.

The year before I met my wife I played it 14 1/2 hours a day on average for the whole year.

That was 5162 hours in that one year.

In total I have played it well over 20k hours, but you might be thinking...he just left it running etc.

No, I had a 97% in combat rate. Not only was I actively playing, I was actually in combat 97% of the time I was playing.

What is....really crazy....is that i'm not even in the top 50 when considering how much people have played it. I don't even usually make it into the top 10 anymore when I do play as far as how much you play in a 2 week period. The top 10 often have people who have played at least 10 our of the 14 days (actual time playing). 14 1/2 hours out of 24 hours will only net you 8-9 days played out of 2 weeks.

Back when I did my 14 1/2 stint I was top of the nolife list the whole year. The difference is now people bot a ton and use front ends to play, so it's WAY easier to keep in constant combat and not log off.

652 hours on Skyrim SE but that includes idle time. I only did one playthrough.

Witcher 3 is 562 hours.

Idle game
Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms - 18,109 hours

Non-idle game
Civilization V - 688 hours

I have like 3000 hours on NBA 2K20 on PS4/5.

Being totally fair these are rts games that don't require much input except for wars, I also tend to tab out without closing them due to how long it takes to load unlike I do with other games.

Europa Universalis 4 4958 hours
Stellaris 3862 hours
Rimworld 1955

Everything else is less than a thousand hours.

cool, I like all of those games but have not played them that much. Stellaris I'm just passed 700.

what do you think of them as games? are they worth that much time? (I'm specifically iffy on Paradox games. I like them in principle but... I'm not exactly sure if I like their design philosophy.)

I enjoy grand strategy games. I'm really not sure what answer you to give? I looked up gameplay videos of eu4 before trying it myself.

why do you play them as much as you do? what is it about them that has you keep going after all that time? do you find them particularly deep, where you try to master the mechanics but the game is complex enough that it's challenging to master, or is it just that there's so many different ways to play? do you consider them decidedly better in some ways than other games you've played? are they good games that are doing things that you wish more games could do?

Yea it was released to Steam only about Year and a Half ago (that's when I started playing)...I thought I was gonna play it for like a month, but got hooked and been playing/subbing since

Just recently took my 1st Break from it due to the Expansion delay (about to jump back in Tuesday hopefully)

I played SWTOR for multiple hours a day for like, 3 years? Something like that, while I was in university.

The Witcher 3, hands down. Like it trumps the next most-played game 6:1.

i was way off, apparently. FF14 at 568 hours, then terraria at 322, left 4 dead 2 at 299, and finally fallout 4 and TF2 after that. guess i haven't check that in a while.

Binding of Isaac Rebirth. 1300+ hours

Age of Empires II

Like 3500 hours in TF2

Team Fortress 2 at only like 324 hours from over 10 years ago.

I didn't have a gaming PC from like 2011 until 2020 or so when I finally built one.
And I mostly play everything on console. I have a PS5, Switch and Series X.
