according to statistics, if you have a cheap computer that's less than 500, chances are all you do with it is browse the net and send emails while a low cost computer in the 500-800 range are for people who want to do more like watch movies and tv shows and as you get higher to the 800-1200 range are people who want to do video editing and more advanced software and the 1200-1600 range are people who want to play decent computer games and likely gamers while those shelling out 2000+ are hardcore gaming pc people who need big rigs to handle those intense graphics...

And then of course there's apple computers but those are just expensive either way...

Built a solid desktop in 2011 for $700. that lasted until it couldn't run dark souls 3, whenever that came out

At that point, graphics cards were already getting expensive, so I ended up just buying a pre built successor for more than twice the price- around $1600

Given it's able to run ps5 games decently well, this one is probably going to last me just as long

My most expensive comp was a hand-me-down, but that was also in the era when there were used computer dealers and the like. So, 2000+ (if new) but at the time it traded a lot like a car would.
