smh. Sure the n64 had memorable games like OoT and Goldeneye, but the amount of classics that the PS1 library had was staggering in comparison. Capcom, Square, and Konami were producing gems after gems for the PS1

Ocarina & Goldeneye weren't even that good, tbqh. The N64 didn't have much. Especially if you had a PlayStation. Hell, in its final days, the N64 was good for bad ports of PS1 game lol. Not a lot of timeless masterpiece. Ocarina is just ugly, for all its other worth. I mean, that is an UGLY ugly ugly looking game.

I automatically discount anything a person says if they say N64 is better.

I think freaking King's Field is easier on the eyes than that thing .

Golden Eye/Perfect Dark/Mario Kart 64/F-Zero X/Super Smash Bros with 3 or more friends, was impossible to re-create on the Playstation.

Sure, if you were only playing single-player, then the Playstation was the superior platform....

N64 was amazing when you got a cpl of your boys together for hours of goldeneye or Mario kart or super smash.
Plus the zeldas for solo time.

My neighbour owned a N64 and it was great fun playing Goldeneye, Duke Nukem, Diddy Kong Racing, NFL Blitz etc. after school or during sleepovers.

But Playstation games were superior in every way and always will be.

PS1 was the system that made Nintendo a childs system.

Only like 20% of either consoles' library is enjoyable today.

In '95 my parents rewarded me with a new console of my choice, a PS1, N64 or Sega Saturn. I chose the PS1. I chose right!

The N64 easily wins over the PS1 for multiplayer. PS1 had the better single player library.

N64 had Majoras Mask and Paper Mario

PS1 had FF7 and who knows what else

I honestly cant think of a single game on the original PlayStation that interests me tbh, let alone would make me choose it over N64.

N64 has plenty of good games.
They do seem to lack far harder in the rpg department for some reason. SNES had tons!
The only I remember for 64 was...Quest 64 which is terrible.
They also seemed fairly unwilling to do many 2d games. The only I recall are Mischief Makers and Kirby 64, both great games.

PS1 had a lot of good ones too, on sheer amount, yeah it probably wins, but 64 was no slouch.

This. They were both big when I was in college, and drunken Mario Kart / Goldeneye nights were the best.

PS1 had the RPGs for sure. N64 was just more enjoyable with core games that are consider some of the best of all time that are played repeatedly.

Multiplayer was fun on the N64 and made for countless memories with games like Goldeneye, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Smash Brow, Diddy Kong Racing, NFL Blitz.

A few more great games I remembered for 64, Star Fox 64 8s one of my favorites of all time and I'd STILL go back and play it.
The Turok games and Bomberman 64 and its sequel.

But damn the PS1 had such good ones. Medieval, Wild 9, Pandemonium, Parasite Eve, and of course the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro series.
How did 64 not have an answer for Crash!?

RPGs are for depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games.

While true at the timeTo me hardly anything from PS1 aged well while I still play a plethora of 64 games to this day.

I was doing a lot of offline multiplayer with friends back in those days (late 90s to early 2000s) and the N64 was just superior for that type of gaming. Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox, Mario Party, Smash, and Goldeneye were all a fun time.

People look back on the PS1 era with serious gilded memories. There was A LOT of trash shit games dumped on PS1, it was basically a shitware dumping ground with a few gems sprinkled on top.

Let's not even get into the high failure rate of PS1's that got so bad they had to put out different models with various "fixes" even so far as to having to change the angle/location of the laser. PS1 was nice but it wasn't the high point of gaming.

Everybody was happy to stare at the loading screen for as long as necessary, the games were that good.

My buddy had a PS1 and I had an N64, after playing both for many years, the N64 is by far better imo. Has likr 50% of my top 10 favorite video games.

N64 is easier to look back on, because it only had a handful of classic games, but those were pretty much the only games, so everyone who had an N64 could be nostalgic over the same thing, but its much harder to be nostalgic with your friends over the PS1 if you liked FF7 and they liked Spyro the Dragon.

Pretty much. If you had a sibling or friends to play with N64 was way more fun. I mostly remember playing JRPGs on PS1.
