I thought there was just pedo and the other one. Didn't know there were 3. Either way, I don't think this metric will be very applicable in the near future, judging by how often I keep seeing the subject pop up. It'll eventually reach semi-kommon knowledge.

A buddy of mine was accused of being a pedophile because he apparently made a move on a 16 year old when he was 25. The age of consent is 16, so he wasn't breaking the law or anything and he was really hurt by those accusations.

I wasn't there, so I had no idea what happened, but I heard the accusations and noticed how he reacted to them.

I guess I have become a little a little technical on the definitions because of this, but the term ephebephile is new to me.

I guess I think that age of consent should be leading, but i know that there are some countries where it's disturbingly low, so that kinda ruins my point for those countries. And perhaps people think 16 is disturbingly low as well, but there are other laws to protect younger people (abuse of power etc)

The problem is that I think that someone who does something to small kids is the lowest scum on earth and even though i recognize that it probably is a sickness, the gloves comes off right when that person acts on those feelings towards a kid instead of seeking help.

I don't judge someone who had consenting sex with someone age inappropriate, but over the age of consent, as harshly.

I think where he gets it wrong is people who make these distinctions are more likely the ehebiphile of whatever.

I only care about the distinction cause I feel the punishment and stigma around them should be different. Which as far as I know the punishment is. But people slap them with the pedophile label and they get lumped in with the actual pedophiles.

I'm not. But I did date one so maybe that has something to do with it. I was 16 and he was 20. Youngest I've dated was 2 years younger than me.

But I seriously don't think they should be viewed the same. I was young enough I was more easily manipulated but old enough I knew it wasn't right.
