31 y/o Father of 2, DJ Ferguson is DEVASTATED and gravely ill after he was taken off the TOP of the DONOR list for a heart transplant at a Boston Hospital because he "does NOT believe" in the COVID vaccine and believes it is a HOAX his own father, David is PROUD he's sticking to his guns because he would rather DIE a man with integrity and principles than be injected with something SINISTER!!

The father sobbed uncontrollably after learning the hospital would not give him the donor heart despite being placed FIRST and to now at the BOTTOM. He has a hereditary heart condition that causes his lungs and hear to fill with blood and fluid and was denied b Boston Brigham and Women's Hospital, a teaching hospital at Harvard Medical School

They said they removed him because all transplant recipients needed to get the vaccine in order to create the best chance for a successful operation and also the patient's survival after transplantation

His father, David said getting vaccinated is "kind of against his basic principles" and that his son doesn't believe it. He said "I think my boy is fighting pretty damn courgaeously and he has his integrity and principles he really believes in and that makes me respect him all the more..it's his body. it's his choice and i love him so much he is willing to die on his principles rather than let someone tell him what to do"

The hospital has a list of protocols including a ban on lifestyle choices like smoking and alcohol and requiring a covid vaccine is common at many medical centres seen across the country where other recipients who need organs but are denied over the vaccine

The mortality rate for transplant recipients who fall ill with covid more than 20%

David said "My son has gone to the edge of death to stick to his guns and he's been pushed to the limit"

They are now considering transferring him to another hospital but his wife, Heather said he may be too weak to move at this point

She said "At this point, DJ is unable to leave the hospital until he gets the heart surgery he needs. Without the surgery his lungs and heart will continue to fill up with blood and fluid"

Dr. Arthur Caplan said vaccination is a requirement for transplants because after receiving a new organ, patient's immune system are esentially switched off and said "The flu could kill you. a cold could kill you. covid could kill you. The organs are scarce, we are not going to distribute them to someone who has a poor chance of living with others who are vaccinated have a better chance post surgery of surviving"

But DJ said sobbingly is not budging and will stand by his christian convictions and not take something he knows will NOT work and not take the risk that he knows will make him worse off in the future and that same sentiment is felt by his family.

There are rules to getting transplants. If you choose to participate in modern medicine, then you need to shut the fuck up and defer to the health care professionals. This isn't getting an extra slice of cheese on your burger and crying to some manager making $15/hr when you don't get it. You listen or you go away. That's the free choice a patient has.

So Im all vaxxed and boosted and very much in favor of thatso obviously its hard to approach it entirely from his point of view

but if, in any case, but Especially as a husband and father, I was literally absolutely going to die if I didnt get the transplant, and the only one I could get it was to get vaxxed even if Im really opposed to the hospital making that decision and think its wrongbecause I dont want to widow my wife and orphan my children, and also just not die Id suck it up and get the dumb shot.

of course its even weirder since the shot is basically going to do no harm, cost him no money, and potentially help him avoid a serious illness. But Im just trying to look at it from his view of being horrible for reasons I dont understand.

though i don't harbor a vitriolic attitude towards the unvaccinated like some (many) here, this is definitely a scenario where vaccination is important since transplant recipients are immunocompromised, inherently and/or from immunosuppressant medication.

it's regrettable that biotechnology isn't at a point where replacement organs are no longer a scarce commodity. didn't someone recently post an article here about someone receiving a pig heart transplant?

the medication required for his body to accept the transplant would nuke his immune system, and given the astronomical odds of contracting the current variant making its way around society, he'd be at high risk of dying if infected.

between the scarcity of transplant organs relative to applicants and the immense mortality risk on the part of this prospective patient, the system has ostensibly elected to reallocate the available transplant heart(s) to lower risk applicants with better odds of survival.

Im not going to shed a tear for someone who chose their fate. Especially when its an easy action and not an addiction

Trust science for surgery, but not for vaccines. Pretty sure people have died to more surgeries than through vaccines over the course of time.
