it sucks

conceptually, it's very cool, but a bit too ambitious for a single dlc story in its own little bubble. the ghost people, lore, atmosphere, and setting and all that are really cool and inspired, the problem is that there's not actually any reward. i mean what, the holorifle? automatic rifle? those are great weapons, but hardly worth the time and effort it takes to do the entire fucking dlc in one go, not to mention all the bullshit that gets stuck in your inventory from it.

definitely the weakest of the 4 add-ons, but the most memorable, it's in a schrodinger's box of being both bad and good at the same time, just don't open it, let it be, lol

I actually really liked the lore of the area the most. Especially the "Let Go" message it tries to tell.

but money really isn't a good reward, considering lonesome road is practically a cap farm with all the high value loot marked men drop

Even a character as great as the Burning Man couldnt get me to like that boring DLC.

But by the end, there's barely any enemies, so it's less enjoyable. And I say that even with HH as my fave New Vegas DLC.

The story they're trying to tell is good, even if it feels kind of amateurish just how heavily the "let go" moral is hammered in, but the survival horror gameplay experiment didn't work given the limitations of the engine. The ghost people are glitched and basically have infinite perception, so it's all but impossible to sneak by them. Radios are annoying and promote save scumming, and there's a strong melee bias to the combat, which hurts certain builds.

And they sure did the BAR dirty. I'm fairly certain the Automatic Rifle has the worst accuracy of any gun in the game except the Sawed-off Shotgun. It's damn near useless at anything past melee range, and at melee range you're much better off using a melee weapon. It chews through durability too, on top of everything else.

at any rate, i wanted the holorifle for my energy weapons character, but going forward i can't justify the timesink required to get a single gun

elijah's ramblings is a good perk, though. +50% melee crit damage (for some reason)

OWB > Dead Money > Lonesome Road > Honest Hearts

OWB is the game firing on all cylinders. The main glaring weakness is being made to watch a long cutscene at the start and end but other than that I'm really happy with it.

Dead Money is fun to revisit after a break from the game because you're never going to remember the whole thing after that long, you get to relive the struggle in parts. Then on subsequent playthroughs you can sprint through it. Holorifle is my favorite energy weapon in the game too so using it then keeping it is the real incentive. You can get a stupid amount of stimpaks from playing the casino and swapping the chips out too which always feels rewarding.

Lonesome Road beat Honest Hearts because you can turn right from Primm and go there immediately to get some good stuff early for a brand new playthrough if you're up for it. The game really treads on your roleplaying here and tells you who you are though. Blade of the BEST is available really early as well as the shoulder mountain machine gun and a bunch of stuff you can sell to the commissary terminals for a headstart on the game. The utility beats Honest Hearts.

Honest Hearts isn't bad in fact it's fine, it's kinda like Lonesome Road, it's just a new area with some quests that feel distant to your character. Nice looking place at night. I never find myself using the unique weapons, I take pretty much everything in the footlocker at the end then just carry it around with no real need for it. On the whole it's a nice break for a playthrough that's starting to become aimless though.

That's fair. The only other things I can really think of are the enhanced Sierra Madre armor, a few tuxedos and another casino to run through. I usually leave it until last because you do have to be more actively up for it than the others. You can definitely speed it up a lot with some memorisation, trick jumps and that perk that makes alcohol restore health though.

I fucking hated the "moral choice" at the end of Honest Hearts. Let the tribe arm themselves, making them militant, or have them evacuate the area, keeping them innocent. Fair enough question to ask, except the game ties itself into knots to stop you just asking the tribe what they want to do or giving you any decent information to act on. Just "uuuuh militant or peaceful".

don't want to finish my games too fast so i need to put something beefy up. i'm aware of the issues plagued with the ps3. i'm doubtful it would be any more different than what fallout 3 had (freezes etc.) on ps3 as rita repulsa says "make my monster grow" aka the save memory. gets bad after 10mb.

My issue with Old World Blues is that it's all too repetitive. There are a lot of places to explore, and yes most of them have a little bit of lore in it, but it ends up feeling like they're just there as a place to put a Sink holotape. And having to repeat the Stealth Suit and High School quests over and over with just minor changes is always a slog.

If you break the bank at the casino, one voucher is deposited every three days at the bunker (and they accumulate). Just make sure to use the initial voucher while you're still in there for the vending machine code to initiate.

That voucher gets you 1000 chips, which can get you a ton of chems, super stimpacks, and, most importantly, weapon repair kits.

Practically unlimited weapon repair kits is the main reward imo. The recipe to make them on your own sucks, and even with Jury Rigging it's hard to find stuff to fix up certain weapons.

I get really into those parts, I think of them as EXP factories. I occasionally sacrifice perfect playthroughs for speed with the extra exp perks and I pretty much always have repair levelled so with the stealth suit you can disable every individual trap. The school one I can agree with you there but I have it memorised so it's quick and Borous is the most entertaining Think Tank scientist. Unless Dr Mobius counts, he can compete.
As for holotapes I just remember as many as I can and work them into my route around the map like a shopping list. And that's only if I'm going for every quest, you're free to cut parts out and speed the ride up. DM and HH have missables, LR is a walk to the end, OWB is just like sure kick back, take your time, enjoy.

Also, Randall Clark wished that the Sorrows defend their home, and they essentially revere him as their God. Wouldn't be fair to him and the Sorrows to have them leave their home, especially when it's orchestrated by Daniel. He thinks it's the moral, right choice, that preserves the innocence of the Sorrows, when in actuality, he feels guilt and regret over his failure to defened his own tribe, and pursues self-redemption by evacuating the Sorrows from Zion Valley.

Speaking about the, ahem, technical troubles all the New Vegas DLC had at launch reminds me. Fallout 3 > Fallout 3 DLC > New Vegas > New Vegas DLC was probably the absolute worst Bethesda games have ever been technically. Nearly every single release for that few years was barely functional at launch. Fallout 3's The Pitt or New Vegas on launch day make Fallout 76 look like a technical achievement.

And yes I know New Vegas wasn't actually Bethesda developed, etc. etc.
