Just finished Hawkeye. And the entire time I was absolutely underwhelmed by the Maya character. Her actress was bland, her story actively brought the show down, and it felt like it would have been a better show if you ignored her entirely. Don't even get me started on her killing Kingpin, which is just trash to begin with.

But I read she's getting a show? Wtf? After how awful she was in Hawkeye? Is someone in the Marvel offices doing some of the good shit?

Awful. Awful, awful, awful.

Hawkeye was great IF you removed all her scenes. Minus the ones featuring other actors who straight carried her.

It blows my mind how they picked the least interesting/charismatic character to have their own show

They announced her show before Hawkeye was released so they probably didn't realize she sucked yet.

Seriously. She was a black hole of talent, and actively dragged every scene she was in down. I was told the Black Widow movie sucked, yet I was enjoying the HELL out of every scene Yelena was in.

Ffs, make a show about Jack over her. Far more entertaining.

Her and their dad were the best parts of the movie imo.

Hawkeye was just a bad show in general. The special effects were bad, the story was bland and bad, and the action scenes were fucking terrible as well. Out of all the MCU shows, Hawkeye is the most bland of them all.

Obviously he's not, but the fact that they did it in general makes you want them to think she did. Which, like I said, is trash to begin with.

I don't. But the intent of that scene existing is to make you think she did, which is the issue I have. It's trash.

I mean she wasn't THAT bad, but definitely doesn't need her own show.

I liked her, but I am curious how she's meant to carry a show.

Like in all honesty, I don't mind it, but a mute protagonist is going to be a tough sell to some people.

Yes, the only good parts was Renner and Yelena. Everything else and everyone else was just bad. I can understand why people like the show, but it just wasn't for me.

I mean we never would have guessed 10 years ago that GoTG would be as popular as they are until we gave them a chance on the big screen either, but here we are. Give her a chance.

I did give her a chance.

It's not like Peter Quill showed up in Avengers or anything beforehand. Or any of the GOTG characters. They had their chance and they OWNED it.

Maya had her chance, she did. She was in multiple episodes, had many many many opportunities, and likely had just as much screen time as some characters like Black Widow did in Iron Man 2...yet, I felt like she was horribly acted. Her performance was bland, her character was boring, and her backstory had no build up. Then they try to give her a 'kill' under her belt for next to no reason.

I don't just go into something not giving a character a chance. I want stuff to be good.

But she just wasn't. It isn't like GOTG at all.

Yeah I tend to be more forgiving then most but she was terrible.

All she does is furrow her brow and stands there like a stump.

And the fact that the Eternals had deaf character in Makkari who was waaaaay more interesting then her.

This. Yelena is 100% the new "Black Widow." Echo might enter if there's a big "portals" type scene, but otherwise will probably be relegated to her show.

Yelena is great, I really would enjoy more of her.

First topic I have seen of people hating her. Also the kingpin headshot is literally taken straight out of the comics.

I didn't think she was that bad. >_>

It wasn't a headshot, she's pointing it below his chin, or maybe right on his chin.

Unless it was meant to be one, but that's more or less the fault of the actress being not good at her job.

? The weird semantics you are going for are weird, but whatever. The gun was pointed at his head and the camera panned up out of view for the shot. Clearly going for the comic book look right there.

Jacks character was so good because you never knew if he was good or bad.

Also Echo had like no screen time, I wouldnt worry too much about it until her show comes out. Feige/the MCU have been on a roll with like 90% of their stuff recently has been great with a couple mediocre clunkers in there.

Its not the show Im most hyped for, but Ill at least give it a chance.

Yes. She's getting a show called Echo.

I didn't have an issue with her, but yeah, I have very low confidence in her having her own show. Like, it would be tough even if she was a major character. Having a relatively unknown character is asking for a flop unless it has some major star power or is combo show with another big character.

I felt Jack's character was great from the beginning. It's all the actor, he really carried the performance.

But my issue with Maya was entirely the actress. She's awful. She's expressionless unless it's 'I angreh', which is the exact opposite of what you want from a deaf character. I understand they were trying to be authentic by going for an actual deaf actress, but hell, man, she's just not good in the role.

Her scenes actively dragged down scenes, as I said. If she wasn't so bad, I'd have no issue with her show. But when you compare her to literally every other character in the show, she falls flat on her face.

I have faith in the MCU but I'm not gonna pretend that I think this is a good idea. Give Jack and Yelena a show instead.

Cant they change their mind about the show like i heard they changed their mind about Sharon Carter being a focus after Falcon show

I'm not exactly hyped for the show because yeah...Maya didn't exactly wow me, but I'll watch it anyway. Especially if Kingpin is in it.

If they can have Kingpin, Daredevil, Foggy, Karen, Vanessa...yeah, I'll watch the everliving hell outta that.

But hell just make DD S4.

Echo was fine IMO but even if you hate her for whatever reason her show is 100% going to feature Kingpin and Daredevil so at least there's that for ya.

But she'll likely be an Avengers level character moving forward so she'll rack in the big bucks.

I agree that Maya was very unimpressive. Probably me least favorite important character. Same complaints that have already been voiced, her presence is essentially just an angry face emoji slapped on a mannequin.

I'm hoping that for her show, now that she's taken care of things that she'll show more emotions than just being angry and huffy.

I hadn't heard of this, I didn't know there were more shows coming outside of Moonknight, Ms Marvel and She-Hulk.

Id rather get a kingpin show. Have him curbstomp other gangs and even some fights with some supers.

I didn't hate her, she just felt like a warm body that anybody who knows sign language could've replicated.

I can't believe someone can still think this considering how the MCU became huge to begin with. They didn't start with all their major characters nor star power. They've been betting on longshots from the beginning.

Right? And its because all their biggest sellers were tied up with other companies.

I think the Echo show is going to end up being carried by Kingpin and Daredevil, and I think Disney intended for that to be the big draw while formally introducing a new character.
