If i had a nickel for every time someone said "why did they give x character a movie/show/etc. its gonna suck!"

id have a lot of nickels guy.

I think it's going to be hard to make a solo show with a deaf character just from the technical standpoint of the "language barrier". She'll constantly have to be with a translator or cherry picked characters that understand her.

There's almost as many MCU characters as there are 616 characters at this point.

Did they say that with a character that appeared in one thing, then got their own movie/show/whatever? Because I've only seen positives in that regard.

Like BP, who was acted by the great Chadwick Boseman. Or Natasha, who was acted by the stellar Scarlet Johansson. I can't think of a single character who was in one thing to have a bad performance, then get thrown into another.

Generally they are all rock-solid.

She didn't have a bad performance, though?

And it's generally said before the show/movie is even out to judge the performance.

Yea I really don't get the whole bad performance thing to be honest. She was supposed to be angry. >_> Also, I think her fight scenes were really impressive considering she's an amputee in real life.

Yeah, I thought the actress gave a solid performance.

I mean, she did. Having an angry face 24/7, even when in a resting position, isn't good acting. If a character is deaf, they need to be expressive with their face, and show intense emotion when needed. But even when she was having an emotional moment, she looked angry.

How Kazi didn't realize she saw something was up when she was walking up to him and lying, I'll never know. Kingpin too.

And not to mention, she actively brought down the scenes she was in, with much better actors than her doing fantastic jobs.

Likely a decent amount was with stunt doubles.

But I do agree, it is impressive regardless.

It is when the character is supposed to be angry 24/7. Not sure why you're ignoring that part. It'd be bad acting if you didn't believe she was actually angry. But it sounds like you did, so not bad acting.

Because humans are a lot more subtle and complex than that.

Not everyone is. We aren't a monolith and display our emotions in a variety of ways, including what we saw from Maya.

You talking about when she talked with Kingpin and told him she was gonna let the Ronin thing go and asked for a couple days off? Because they both immediately knew something was up. Kingpin even says right after she leaves something along the lines of "And now Maya's turned on us"

There is absolutely no way they killed Kingpin in basically his first MCU appearance offscreen.

I mean not really. Specially when a loved one has been killed or hurt. Humans tend to act very emotionally during and after those times. Someone who is after their loved ones killer is going to be mad most if not all of the time. Are you one of those people who think Peter Quill should have followed the plan when he learned what happened to Gamorra?

Technically speaking, it is difficult for a deaf person to lie convincingly. Kazi probably let it go because he has feelings for her, but was forced to confront it when Kingpin said what he did.
