It's all well and good to want to help the less-fortunate, but to deny the serious sanitation and safety risks associated with "building more public toilets" is idealistic thinking that doesn't really fit into reality.

Nether sympathy nor empathy require a person to have personally experienced the exact situation. I don't know where you got this idea to correct something that did not require correction in any way. The answer is to just give them each their own apartment. Move them around with a bus if you have to. Salt Lake City did this and it ended up saving money because the cost of giving everyone a free apartment was cheaper than paying the police & related facilities to deal with vagrancy.

Unfortunately no. A lot of our homeless would benefit from mental health care facilities, but instead, they get put on a "5150 hold" for 24-48 hours, and then released. Even though workers want to help them, their hands are tied, since the right facilities just aren't there.

I know youre joking of course, but it is funny how when I bring up the massive amount of money taxpayers would save by housing the homeless, the types who claim to hate taxes always go silent or repeat some trite, anti-homeless nonsense about used needles or whatever. Its the same type of ideology that thinks punishing criminals is more important than stopping crime (harsh prison conditions have proven to cause recidivism). They dont seem to actually want to fix the issue, even when presented with a clear and simple way to do so.
