What kind of komi do you use when playing a quick 9x9 game?

However some people/schools use more since most can argue that black has a greater advantage on a 9X9 than on a 13X13 or 19X19

I've wanted to learn, but I still can't even get an understanding of the basic rules... but I'm not the best at self-teaching

Been awhile since I had to look, but this person(I assume they go by her now), was typically regarded as the best place to start for beginners.

I used to play with my sister, it was one of the few board games she actually liked, and she was a decent beginner, but she was good enough to figure out I was throwing games against her, so she got angry and stopped playing with me.

With most games I was good enough that I could at least make it seem like we were close in skill level but not with Go, I made too many moves that were obviously wrong given the level of my play style.

Go is definitely a game that takes a lot of games. Most people say you don't really start learning till you lose your first 100 games

Accurate.

At the time Hikaru no Go was running in Monthly Shonen Jump and it had added tutorials for how to play.

I was gonna say, I dabbled in it while reading Hikaru no Go, way back when Shonen Jump was still doing the physical magazines. I didn't keep up with it though.

Yeah, its hard to find people who actually play. Which is sad because I have an amazing handmade set I ordered from a master in Japan that has only ever had life and death puzzles ran with it. Doesn't seem like it will ever have a game played on it.

I've been playing white with no komi against Godroid. I'm at about a 50/50 win rate right now.

Honestly, you do you, but thats a little long to be playing 9X9. I would suggest going to 13X13 by now.

I play 13x13 and 19x19, but for a quick game while I'm waiting for something it's my go to
