I just binged it.

Great series.

The first part of me is hard to watch. I don't like the slavery in it. And the lance guy is creepy.

Other than that I to enjoyed the series.

The manga has one of the sharpest decreases in quality I've ever seen. It starts off ok enough, dips a bit after the first arc (where the anime ends), then just jumps off a cliff. It's based off a LN, so the anime might be significantly better.

The gold digger part was hard to watch for me IMO...Because it was super relatable to me >__>

Being a high income earner and have never dated anyone, makes me on high alert for these types of people.

i dropped the series at the turle arc. it was becoming so boring.

the only reason it got popular because of edgy revenge anyway.
plus i hate the series fandom because they popularized misogyny. nowadays erverytime there's a female character that's not 100% obedient to MC like a slave, they will call her a bitch. and that spreads off to other manga/anime.

Shame that the manga keeps kinda going downhill. When it was edgelord MC against the entire world, and he had to do a bunch of stuff to stay alive, it was more interesting than...whatever's happening now.

Pretty much every mechanic that keeps the series grounded gets thrown out the window. Stuff just happens. The plot is really messy: characters have awkward motivations, it's unclear who is working with who for what reason, the villain is idiot and mostly unseen. MC starts getting the "friend aura" where everybody flocks to his harem for no reason. Basically everything that made the series kinda interesting is gone. It's hard to tell if it's bad in the LN or just lost in translation from LN to manga.

Kind of sounds like One Punch Man where it started off as a parody series about super heroes/battle shonen series, but then as the series goes on it becomes the very thing it tries to parody.

Terrible show.

Marathoned it while Redo of Healer was airing and found that Redo was way better at it in every way.

I've complained about this show a bunch, so I'll keep my post brief, but my main gripes are how Naofumi doesn't deserve his underdog status (he's simultaneously the only competent person in the world and the only one who keeps actively getting shit on by the general public), and how there's barely any actual chemistry between Naofumi and Raphtalia.

Compared to how Redo's Keyaru/Keyarga has an OP skillset that goes far beyond healing, and still has to pull dirty tricks to get one up on his similarly overpowered opponents, while also relying on and actually giving... "attention" to his slaves, the difference between Redo and Shield Hero is night and day.

There's also Isekai Meikyuu, which has its own Raphtalia, but both she and the MC have actual personalities there too, and the series is much slower and more grounded.

One big reason it got popular is because the VA for Naofumi and Raphtalia are the same as the main couple in the rascal does not dream of bunny girl anime.

The first two or three episodes were really good but I didn't like him getting that chicken on the team

I felt the same about that Assassin Isekai that's airing at the moment. Good basis for a story but doesn't seem to know how to carry it on logically.

That's just bad translation from web comic -> manga -> anime. In the web comic, the tournament ends in just a few chapters hinging on bald jokes, definitely satirizing old DB. In the manga, it's drawn out waaaaaay too long. The focus, even in Season 2, is still the jokes and on subverting expectations and that will last at least through the Garou arc (the best arc).

Edit: I don't know how anyone is praising the Redo anime. It's literally hentai with a weak plot surrounding it. The writing is like a 13 year old on a certain fanfic site. The MC has no arc, no one grows in any appreciable way, and you can tell how every single story arc is going to go relatively early on. S1 Shield Hero is a classic story of miscommunication and competing goals, Redo is a cliche revenge (literal) porn.

redo of healer eventually run out of vengeance theme and the healer hero becoming a true hero.
so yeah, just like the others.

Keyaru doesn't develop much in the anime, sure, but there are still hints of it. "Is it really worth pursuing my vengeance when I have happiness here?" NO, I MUST COMPLETE MY REVENGE

The LN gets a bit more development as the demon king arc and stuff progresses.

All of that is still better than Naofumi's "I would rather doom this world that keeps being mean to me than work with the other asshole heroes, not that it matters because the story literally won't allow them to be competent anyway".

Don't act like Sword/Spear/Bow Hero or the royal family are worth shit compared to anything in Redo. "Competing goals" my ass.
