Music is still mind-blowingly fantastic.

Voice acting is also great. Although the limit break lines are wack("I'm on fire now!!")

Hit the emotional notes super well. Especially by video game and weeb standards.

Did the Halo reach ending before Halo reach and executed it better. Way better at evoking emotional response, way better conveying the hopelessness of the situation.

The price of freedom is the best ending accompanying song in any game in the Final fantasy franchise.

But man, the gameplay is just so dull and repetitive. It's not even "Bad." It's just so disinteresting. Same with 90% of the sidequests. If those two things were fixed, it would be in contention for the best game from the FF7 "universe".

Also, it was on the PSP. It really needs to be released on a better platform than that.

I hated the slots interupting combat every 5 seconds and killing the enemies for me. It might be fun to play but all you get to do is watch.

I enjoyed everything about the game tbh. Just really wished we got to see more of Midgar or the slums. Akin to Map travel like type-0. That was also on the PSP as well so they had the technology.

I'm talking about by today's standards. And to help you out a bit.

Standard: an idea or thing used as a measure, norm, or model in comparative evaluations.

Love those limits, didn't even mind that they're unskippable.

I'm one of the few people that actually likes the game and gameplay, the whole random factor kind of worked for me. I'm not saying I want more games like that, but Crisis Core just worked.

It was also the perfect handheld game and probably the best PSP-only game because of the mission based structure which is clearly designed for on the go short bursts of gameplay.

Couple that with fantastic voice acting, story, and graphics, and you have the only great game in the whole compilation of FF 7 universe that Square was pushing

It's funny, I actually like the action rpg battle system of this and the even better Kingdom Hearts 1/2, yet I tried playing that meh remake of FF7 and I didn't like the combat at all.

Those side quests are dog shit. Some of the writing was bad too, but I still had fun with it

And I know a lot of people hate Genesis, but I still like him ironically. Plus Angeal was actually a great character as a mentor for Zack, so it made up for the more cringe genesis shortcomings
