Friends from FIDM and my ex went to Otis design school in downtown LA. Unless you're buying something custom made to wear to the red carpet or you're buying a business suit, it's not worth shilling out ridiculous money on something that depreciates. They aren't casting some magical spell on these pants. There are different varieties that vary in stetchiness. I've settled on Levi's "athletic" brand (stretchy) as my perfect spot. Its $20-25 a pair and they last for years. I bought my most recent pair at King Soopers (my local grocery store). Don't spend $200 on something this utilitarian.
