It's basically an hour of intense tension with the viewer going through an entire range of emtions as characters that have been built up are either killed or doing repugnant shit to each other to out of desperation

Mixed feelings on the ending. I saw one of the plot twists coming a mile away, and the other 'big' one completely caught me off guard.

It was a very fun ride. I can see this working for maybe one more season.

I still haven't seen it, I'm just not in the mood for something really bleak. I think it's weird how it blew up on those children's YouTube videos

My kids play Roblox all the time and my 9 year old knows all about the games. She said the glass bridge is easy.

Not just the end, but like the last couple episodes.

I want to watch that Boarderland show. I think its kind of the same thing but in Japanese

Just finished it.

The ending was brilliant, completely disagree with people who said it was bad. Maybe if you're looking for a boring standard happy hollywood ending you would be disappointed I guess. But if they did a happily ever after ending, it would have been completely out of character for the series and ruined it in my opinion.

Also check out Hellbound maybe. It's not a death game show. But it's another very good Korean show. The opening concept without giving too much away is that around the world angels begin appearing to people. They tell the person their exact time of death, and inform them they are headed for hell

When the stated time arrives, 3 ogre looking monster things appear and kill the victim, then all put their hands on the body and it is scorched to char.

I wanted more risk and better games. A more involved final game. Stuff like that. Everything after marbles, imo, is a let down in terms of the game.

The final game was great. It was just a rendered down no frills, no bullshit 1 on 1 competition.

Really the only thing I found out of character was the MC's friend killing himself. Otherwise, I like how it was more about the characters and less about the game itself since that was in line with of the whole series. The games were just a vector to showcase the characters rather than the games themselves being the focal point.

I call bullshit though, on the "extra games"

The night when they turn on the strobe lights and allow a brawl

And the final night when they

1. Fucked over a winner by stabbing her with glass as she won the bridge game. And then

2. Letting her get murdered

The Frontman said he cared about fair games. But those 2 instances put a huge hole in his logic

They never told people there would be extra rounds like that. It wasn't part of the rules

You're telling me the people running the death games are using flawed logic?

I really liked Hellbound, but it so bleak and sad. I'm finding that many Korean series are really tragic. They don't hold back on killing off lots of characters you get invested in. Sweet Home was the same way, but I really like that one too.

They may do a 2nd season and I am hoping they take a cool direction. They probably won't but it would be amazing if it turned into a war on God

I thought it was really solid, with a solid ending as well. There wasn't anything particularly mind blowing about it, except that they actually delivered on the premise, which most shows and movies these days seem not to. Most projects fail even at their own premise

my complaint was that the ending made absolutely no sense, biggest mistake the show made was bringing back the old dude. Although I did laugh when the main guy dropped off the girl's brother & all the cash to the dead dude's mom, it's so ridiculous if you think about it

That's because the line about it being fair is absolute bullshit. The Frontman has probably bought into it, just to justify to himself why he continues to run the game when he's lived through it, but it's by no means meant to be fair. Every single game indicates that in some way. The games solely exist to entertain the VIPs.

It's a reflection of capitalism. Fox News types love to talk about how capitalism is the fairest economic system, that anyone can start from nothing and become rich, but the reality is that some people have outright advantages and the rich and powerful are the ones who really control things.

In that episode where they leave the games, he was about to commit suicide in the bathtub. He's burning charcoal in an enclosed space to give himself carbon monoxide poisoning. I think a lot of us Americans miss it - I certainly did - because it's not at all a common way of doing it in America. Koreans wouldn't miss it because it's apparently common over there.

That episode actually foreshadows all of the main characters' deaths. Aside from Sang-woo:
  • Deok-su jumps off a bridge to escape that other gang, he's thrown off the glass bridge.
  • Sae-byeok threatened to stab that coyote in the neck, she was stabbed in the neck.
  • Ali stole money after his boss took advantage of his ignorance, he was killed when Sang-woo took advantage of his ignorance and stole his marbles.
