I am just floored that people have continuously been able to turn human suffering and death into a profitable entertainment model for thousands of years.

We never evolve into something better.

We should just be more accepting of the fact that we as humans find fucked up shit entertaining. It is what it is.

Its especially gross when they dive into the deep details and even show pictures of crime scenes or reenactments. Sometimes it gets gratuitous.

Ongoing unsolved case that true crime has been talking about lately. This is important to keep fresh in people's minds. The killer is still out there. Documentaries about this crime are good. They make sure the public doesn't forget it happened

I like that it brings more attention and energy toward cold cases but it is a treading a thin line between raising awareness and disrespecting victims and the families of victims

My girlfriend loves to watch stuff like that and sometimes I have to leave the room. It's hard to explain why, I just feel like I worked so hard to escape the violence and death that was around me growing up and I try to consume more wholesome media or at least fictional and fantasy to keep my mind from going to those places. I think it's a morbid fascination for her and maybe lets her explore some of her fears in a controlled setting but me personally it just hurts too much sometimes to think about.

You're not wrong TC

My wife is addicted, she constantly has that shit on

What she listens to by herself is whatever, but when our daughter is sitting right there, hearing all these fucked up stories with no detail spared and I have to get her to turn that shit off, ugghhh it's infuriating.

Alot of the people she listens to don't even seem to care about the victim(s), they just focus on the gross shit, or make jokes about the case. Really fucked up.

I hear what you are saying TC, I find it disgustingly voyeuristic myself. I've told people, if I'm ever brutally murdered, I don't want the story to be on Dateline, or any other show.

I listen to Crime Junkie sometimes. Despite the name, they act very respectful in the show. I actually would agree with you, TC, on some shows. I remember one where they make jokes, and I didn't like that. But Crime Junkie doesn't do that. Neither have the documentaries I have watched.
