Yup! I'm trying to use that same logic against her to convince her we don't need the Nanit Pro (that it'll just have so much false alarms and who cares about how long the baby sleeps; what are we going to do with that info... And even going the morbid path of saying not a single case of SIDS has been prevented with these devices so it's all for naught), but it ain't working.
lol @ this, you're not going to give a single fuck about how your baby's sleep metrics when the baby has you up every 1 - 3 hours

All those up front costs are nothing really compared to daycare.

My wife said she'd take care of all the night stuff while she's on maternity, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.
My wife also said that; that I should help the first couple of weeks for her to recover from the birth, then I can sleep in the guest room when I return back to work.

But I feel like I won't be able to just do that...

lol you are correct.

If things go smoothly and she only needs to do a quick feed or diaper change then yeah maybe. But chances are she's going to get stressed out when the baby won't go back to sleep.

I think my brain has wiped out a lot of that first year with my daughter lol

I would recommend checking Facebook Marketplace. My sister got so much free shit on there that people were just giving away (diapers, food, formula, etc). Granted, it helps that she lives in a rich area so you might not have the same luck but wouldn't hurt to take a look?

Sorry to hear that... Hope you're mentally and physically able to have a second child

Working on it now actually. She had an ultrasound done a couple weeks ago and they said everything was good but found a fibroid that's kind of pushing against the wall of the uterus. They said that could cause issues in another pregnancy if the placenta happens to attach on that part of the uterus, but they can't guarantee it would happen or that if it did it would lead to another loss.

Our options are to take the small risk and continue trying now, or have it surgically removed in January or February whenever they can get it scheduled and then wait another six months for recovery before trying again.

Shitty position to be in lol

Gotcha. Just curious: how many diapers do babies need per day? I'm thinking 10-15 diapers a day...
I know you're going to get tired of this answer, but... It varied lol. Some days, yeah we went through about a dozen or so. Other days, only about half that.

Very true lol. Maybe TC will be one of the lucky parents whose kid sleeps through the night right away.

I wonder why cloth diapers/diaper services don't exist anymore. Seems like it would be much cheaper than using disposables. Plus, better for the environment.

Yeah, babies are super expensive. What's going to add up is diapers. Babies poop through so many of those things. Always keep track of how many you have left, because you do not want to run out of diapers, trust me lol.

And yeah, it's a good plan to have a changing table/station. Sometimes the diaper change can be... messy (blowouts). So you want a surface that's dedicated to the diaper changes.
You can usually potty train them by 3 or 4 though, then you can stop buying diapers and put it towards something else

My sister recently had a baby shower and got a ton of free shit from it. She even had an amazon wishlist that mostly got fufilled, although she tried to be sneaky and put shit that was not necessary at all.

What does the baby need with an amber jade necklace sis?

My wife wants the Nanit Pro camera for like freaking $400 plus all the straps it needs and a yearly subscription. Trying to convince her we just need a $30 Wyze Cam lol... Ugh.

@IdiotMachine ive got a nanit and i love it. The breathing monitor is great, it travels well, i can see how long since he woke up, i can set alerts if it gets too cold/hot

It is absolutely not a necessity

But its pretty great if youre into baby gadgets

Jealous of some of those prices, even after the conversion. We bought the same stroller but it was $800 CAD on sale.

Nothing major seems to be missing from what I can tell, pretty similar to what we have bought.

800 bucks for a stroller, jebus. I had no idea they were that expensive.

Infants are supposed to sit rear facing, so you won't see them when driving. The car mirror is supposed to attach on the rear passenger head rest, so you can see your baby. Here's the one I bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07F8HTSKD

Technically, only reason I bought this was to meet the criteria to get the "free" baby gifts from Amazon's gift registry sign up; so wasn't on sale or anything when I bought it.
My wife has a mirror in her vehicle and I don't. I can't tell you how much not having one sucks after having one.

So I'm reading a book (The Expectant Father) and it talks about how we should consider having a bunch of legal stuff out of the way, like last will and testaments, durable power of attorney, living will, and advanced health care directives.

You guys do this...?

There are lots of single child families and thus people dying to get rid of stuff. Maybe you should hold a regift baby shower for all those parents who would love to see the stuff reused?

I mean you dont need all this stuff. Kid really only needs a crib, car seat, stroller, some clothes and diapers. And except for the diapers and car seat you can buy used. I guess formula too but I breastfed because its so much cheaper.

Breastfeeding isn't always a choice, which is why we're preparing for the mixer. My wife's mom wasn't able to produce any milk when she was pregnant with my wife, so we foresee this for her as well.
