Yeah, I get that and agree to a point. Dark souls though for me isn't (usually) frustration gaming, as I was always good enough to beat most fights after a few times (thank god) and that was without summoning help. I never actually had to summon help in order to beat a fight before getting frustrated with it (so far...but I think Elder ring is going to be actually over all easier combat wise).

But there are games like that which I just don't play, I have no patience for frustration gaming at this point and wouldn't be able to play many games in the past where you had to do a whole level over again if you died etc...forget that lol.

This is why I don't hardcore raid in MMOs, nor join groups that take two or three hours one week to understand something simple only to forget it the next week like they'd never learned it at all. It's one thing to fail once or thrice, whether by mistakes made or lessons learned, but it's another when you slam against a wall over and over and over and nothing gained - at all.

Personally, I just don't do raids in MMOs because I grew up in an era when you played video games to get away from other people. Video gaming is something you do alone, or occasionally with friends on the same couch, not something you do with a dozen strangers from all around the world.

I know that mentality has changed (especially for a lot of younger gamers), but I'm still sort of in the old mindset.

It's why I mostly avoid MMOs at all. And even when I do play them (like ESO or GTA:O), I mainly just stick to solo'ing the single-player content anyway. Which means I'm pretty much permanently locked out of raids and larger group instances that are designed to be extremely difficult unless you're with a group and coordinating tactics.

Watched 3 episodes before I went to bed.

The series is fun, Spike is great, Jet is great, the atmosphere is great, the banter really feels like Bebop anime banter, especially episode 3.

They took some artistic liberties I don't get (like Jet's backstory), but it doesn't really detract from the overall narrative.

What I don't like: Everything Vicious is involved in.
He's the worst, why is his character so bad?
Everyone is supposed to be afraid of this mad dog who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, so far he's been more of a Viserys Targaryen type character, everyone just bullies him.

Anyway I would HIGHLY recommend reading the series, even if it does peter off long term.

I should point out that I read the books as they came out ... up until Book 11. I cannot recall if I did anything with the Sanderson trilogy, though I do have it.

For me, the pacing was great for the first four books, and then it bogged down in Book 5 and stopped dead in Book 6, becoming a slog after that. Still a great series, but perhaps too ambitious in the end.

I have watched the first three episodes of the show, and it is ... okay. I feel like the original story could have been trimmed a bit differently, and there is stuff in there that is not in the books at all, but the look of the universe is definitely there, barring poor CGI (e.g. the Trollocs).

I've watched the first few episodes of the live-action Beebop with my wife. We've been alternating between that and Amazon's Wheel of Time... and let me tell you, Cowboy Bebop feels so good in comparison to that disaster. I'm not even sure if Cowboy Bebop is actually good or if it's more like spoiled milk tastes delicious after you've eaten nothing but crap.

The game plot at least. I wouldn't know if Geralt died in the books or not.

Even in Japan, you'll get anime that is totally different from the manga it's based on, and then they'll come out with a later anime that's different from the previous two, or a movie that's different from all of those, and so on. They're not huge on franchise continuity.

That being said, the problem most people have with Western adaptations of manga/anime isn't that it's different from the original, as much as because it's different in blatantly stupid ways that don't make the adaptation more entertaining.

What about Brotherhood?

Deidara vs Sasuke was either a retcon or purely bad writing. Well the entire ninja war was bad writing anyway.

He does at the end of the last chronological book, along with Yenn. And the game also shares a different plot to WoT, to say nothing of the game trilogy changing that fate in the books to a temporary death before they are brought back for reasons and Geralt gets to retire in not-Tuscany.

Watched three episodes so far. I'm actually enjoying it. I didn't think I would. Some of the style choices that wirk fine in an animated show don't translate so well in live action. Not a big enough deal to bother me though.

still haven't watched it.

i don't mind differences, but there's a limit to that though. after a while you should just make a new thing instead of using someone else's work to make something that comes off lazy, stupid, and even disrespectful to the original artist if it's done poorly enough. after some of the clips and news articles i've seen of it, i'm inclined to lean toward disrespectful here.

like what you like, though, idc.

Yeah, it's a shame because there's a whole lot of love to the source material, especially from the CGI people, but they just didn't have the experience to follow through with it.

I'm not throwing shade at the design choice, I'm talking about the person who put needle to fabric, that person.

See how the robot arm is bulging?
https://i.imgur.com/NfvRrVo.png
That's because it's not tapered correctly at the elbow, it's leather and needs to be tapered even harder.

The syndicate suits were what I was talking about mostly when I was talking about Spirit Halloween costume, they look cheap.

i don't see what's wrong with that tbh. artists should be allowed to do what they want to do. that said, i don't really have an issue with her outfit in this. that'd be hard to pull off and take seriously with a real person. it's a minor change that doesn't matter amongst all the other weird shit that's been done.

I am aware, but then you go there and see how not-really-French the place is. In fact, it is distinctly Italian with its flora, sun, and flavor of wine culture. Considering how much of northern Italia was alternating French and Latin during the Middle Ages, simply looking at a French name and saying a place is France is a subpar argument at best.
