I don't understand how you get a 4 unless you were forced to take it and just walked out.

Having educated parents is a bigger factor. People that grow up in an environment with two college educated professional parents don't realize how much of a bonus they have on basic tests like the SATs.

I dropped out of high school and joined the Army after slacking and not doing any school work as a junior or senior. I scored in the top 1 or 2% on the SAT, GED, and ASVAB mostly just because I grew up with a lawyer for a mom and a mechanical engineer for a Dad that met while they were both in grad school at UC Berkeley.

More like the fields of higher education that were viable for employment were ruthlessly slashed in 2008-2010 and if you were in one of them that was cut at that time your earning potential for all the money you put into your degrees got fucked.

All the bankers who fucked up the country got bailed out by the government with no consequences, though, so the important things were taken care of.

the topic title is backwards. it's income by score. score by income implies rich kids score better. income by score implies smart people make more money. while i'm pretty sure both things are true, the graph only shows the latter.
The graph is talking about the family incomes of students who scored that, not "they scored this on the ACT, now they make this much money"

I'd guess because anyone with any money is going to get that dumb kid a crash tutor and take the test again in a few months.

Kids got made fun of in my HS for scoring below a 20. And it was mostly blue collar families.

How the fuck do you score in the single digits
I remember sitting in the library at my school once and overhearing the principal ranting about the school's average ACT score because it was in the high teens. This was at a dirt poor rural school in the South.

it's not the best graph because it doesn't specifically state how many people are in each group. 4, 5, 6, 7 have such strange zigzags, and yet it's so smooth on top. obviously there's a massive difference in quantity, then, since it seems to be percentage based

pretty colors though, makes me think things are happening that i can understand. at least they give us one axis.
