When will you be upgrading?

I'll be waiting a year for them to get most of the bugs worked out.

LOL we're literally in the same boat

Upgrading the OS seems like something that'd be prone to bugs, and I don't want any of my games (specifically the very same one you mentioned) getting bricked after I put so much time into it

Also, I'm a bit worried about Windows 11's Secure Boot requirement, since I had to disable that to dual-boot a Linux distro on it (although maybe they fixed that by now, this was a while back)

When I get a new computer which won't be for a couple more years. Still running Windows 7 and loving it.

At work I use Windows 10 and that's a pretty good OS as well. Have no desire to try Windows 11. And I especially have no interest in using an OS within the first few months of it being released. Those bugs need to be worked out first.

Windows 11 has a neat built in Night Light feature that's works like your blue light filter on your monitor, giving you another level of easement on your vision during low light computer sessions.

Probably the only -real- feature I like tbh, without having to find one that does similar on the internet.
Plus it's supposed to be faster at loading games then windows 10, so I imagine it will be the defacto windows OS for serious pc gaming.

If any other Windows is a decent indication, it'll be a couple years before new PCs run the OS well.

Restricting it to the newer gen CPUs is going to slow the rollout.

More than half of my collection of PC games don't run properly on Windows 10.

I keep a gaming laptop running Windows 7 because there are games that simply don't run on WIndows 10.

I'm not going to upgrade willingly. There's nothing they can offer that would be worth the hassle except complete compatibility and that can't be promised.

While Windows 11 still requires that your PC support TPM 2.0, there is a workaround for computers without the required hardware, and Microsoft itself has offered up the solution.
Long story short, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is a technology that protects your computer's data. An upgraded TPM means upgraded security for Windows 11 users. However, while many PCs support TPM 2.0, not all of them do. There is now an official solution. As PC Gamer reported, Microsoft published a tutorial on its support page outlining how to install Windows 11 on a machine without TPM 2.0.
Microsoft clarifies in the tutorial that it does not recommend installation on any PC that does not meet the requirements. It also encourages customers to reach out to support before trying any installation method other than the standard route. Your PC will still need to support at least TPM 1.2. With that in mind, here is the method it described.
To start, you'll have to make sure the BIOS for your TPM are activated. The exact instructions for that will depend on your hardware. For details, check out GameSpot's tutorial to find out how to enable TPM 2.0 on your PC, should you have it, and how to activate it if you don't. If you're not sure whether you have it or not, the tutorial should help you find out.
To install Windows 11 without TPM 2.0, you'll have to change the registry key values to skip the check for TPM 2.0.
  • First off, hit the hotkey Win+r and type in regedit.
  • From there, you will click through to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup.
  • Right click the registry editor window and select new, then DWORD (32-bit value).
  • Name it AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU.
  • Then change its value to 1.
Afterwards, you should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 without having TPM 2.0.
