Longest Ive ever ran for sure. I used to think even running a 5k(3.11 miles) was the max Id ever be able to do.

cheers to being healthy!

Thanks yall! Running has literally changed my life. Helped me get a girl again for the first time in years. Made me way more confident in my own skin. Losing 70 lbs and feeling this healthy is a literal high.

5Ks are the longest races I do. I just get bored running more than an hour.
I usually get bored after 7 miles or so when training, since I am almost always running alone at that distance (at practice we only go 5 max).
I feel like if I stayed between 8:30-9 pace I could run for hours no problem.

What's your 5k PR?

Nothing fast. I think around 28 minutes. I like the distance running a lot. My run today was at 2 hours almost exactly. Its super meditative for me. Helps me get rid of all the negative shit in my mind for longer, which is getting super addictive to me.

I think one reason I might not like longer runs is I don't run with headphones or listen to anything, I need to be aware of my surrounding. I like to hear what is going on.

Right now all my running is with the cross country team (I'm the coach) and I love that, cause you can run with kids and talk to them about whatever. I would run for 2 hours easy like that.

I get that. I have hearing problems, and running with headphones makes it harder to hear for sure.

The AirPod pros are game changers tho. The transparency mode uses the mics in each ear to pick up your surroundings and feed it through the AirPod speakers. They kinda act like hearing aids, in a way.

Cross country coach seems like a fun job for sure. Ive had tons of students on the cross country team in the past.

Nice man I'm in the same boat. Running and cycling helped me shed over 100 pounds and made me much more confident and now I do it to keep up and to get faster and longer.

I did 10 miles today and running with head phones helps a lot. I still can zone out and just reflect and think about stuff too which helps a lot. If you don't think about running you're fine to run longer and faster.

Yeah I almost always listen to music. Sometimes single artists ive been obsessing over, sometimes Spotify playlists. I havent tried podcasts tho, wonder if thatd be decent to run to. I usually feel like music pumps me up and encourages me to keep going.

I actually run worse with my ears distracted than if I have my eyes closed.

Also, recently, I listened to a podcast interviewing a lady who, having a small portion of her brain removed to stop potentially deadly seizures, lost her sense of time. Because of this, she doesn't know how long she's been running, and so she doesn't know how tired she should be, and so she's run and won several ultramarathons.

Biggest change to my running is buying a better watch that has GPS so it can map all my runs and give me pace while I'm running. I know expensive watches do all that, but the one I bought was only $50. It is probably missing some features but it does everything I need it to do to train better.

Ever consider an Apple Watch? You can get one a few generations old for real cheap. I use the Nike run app on my phone, but theres an Apple Watch app for it too that shows your current time, heart rate, average mile time, etcsuper useful to just monitor stats like that. The Nike app also tracks via gps, and maps out where you got slow and stuff like that.

I have a Garmin and use the Garmin app. While I know I am missing a few features it honestly does everything I need it to do (maps runs, gives distance, pace, heart rate, mile splits). It is also a lot smaller than an apple watch, which I like. It lasts like a week on a charge which is probably my favorite thing about it.

I'm 37.
I have really only been running seriously for about 5 years. Just hit my 5K PR of 22:06 last month.
I started running when I helped out with the elementary cross country club at my school (kids in K to 6).
This is my first year coaching the Jr. High and Varsity. I ran a lot with the kids during the summer for conditioning since its not really structured. But since school and races started I don't actually run with them that much (have to keep track of times and stuff).
I am gonna run a trail 5K in November I think, which should be kind of hard cause it's all hills and woods.

Im 31 and Ive been running since like21? Usually just a mile or two max. Always liked the focus and act of running, but was always decently out of shape. Always have liked pushing myself tho and being able to run a tiny bit farther than last run.

Can't you just use your phone on an arm band to do the same? It's not that difficult?

I don't like carrying anything extra when I run, it bothers me.
