Trump got through a whole year, Biden will be fine. He's old, but he's not senile - he'll be fine.

The only way I could see Biden not making it through the term is if some Trump-nut kills him... which I don't think is that far outside the realm of possibility.

He's very old, but he's in good shape. I think he'll make it.

I'm not wishing ill-health on him, but it would be nice if he voluntarily stepped down and let Kamala Harris become president. Sometimes, you can't put progress to a vote. We had to circumvent the electoral progress to end segregation and allow marital equality. America should have a female president and having their second Black president won't hurt things either.

If I had my way, senior citizens would be barred from holding the office. They're too out of touch from contemporary society and too old-fashioned in the way they do things.

If we're going to have a minimum age, a maximum age isn't out of the question.

Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of Trumps, didnt vote for him either election, but he seemed to have more energy, maybe his narcissism kept him going idk.

Biden just seems tired. The stress of a presidency wreaks havoc on people. Look at the way Bush and Obama aged during their terms.

She doesn't have to be a progressive. Her getting the presidency is in itself progressive. Once you show that a woman can be president, once you reaffirm that a Black person can be president, you open up new opportunities. We could have an Asian American president or a gay president in the next decade and I wouldn't be surprised.

It's just like Hollywood. Sometimes, you need to have a certain actor in the lead role just to show that anybody can be a lead.

You summed up politics in a nutshell.

You elect a devil who will inadvertently open up doors to progress or you elect a devil for the sake of electing a devil. You think she could possibly do worse than Trump or Biden? Not if she tried.

He will finish his four years, but I really dont know if either he or Harris will be voted back in. He doesnt want to be president in his nineties and the general public just doesnt really like Harris. If you have Democrats who still think marijuana should be illegal, you dont have modern leadership.

For all the negativity in the media about exiting Afghanistan, I think most of the civilians are in agreement that it needed to happen (years ago). Hes doing better with the virus than Trump did, but not as well as he should be doing. Too many red state governors are going hard against it, but no talk of cutting off federal funding/assistance to them until they do things right.

Will I be voting for Biden and Harris in 2024? No. Will I be voting against them? No.

A non-vote is a Republican vote. Almost to a person, they will be there. If the left and the middle aren't there in opposition to them, they win.

Refusing to vote for a Democrat because they don't support the legalization of marijuana is the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face. But they're not coddling White supremacists or encouraging people to disregard safety precautions. Both parties are there to protect capitalist interest. But only one is actively trying to get people killed.

If we had more legitimate parties maybe the establishment dems and gop wouldn't be able to just pump out the same nonsense over and over. Where we stand with polarization we'll never break out of the us vs. them cycle because of the aforementioned fear/shaming tactics.

With more parties voter bases could push the establishment to change by supporting third, fourth, etc. parties.

Republicans almost uniformly see it as their responsibility to vote. The sense of urgency is not always found on the left and certainly not in the middle.

I think it comes down to four factors:

• Republicans often have a strong sense of patriotism and it is seen as a privilege to be able to vote.
• There's a lot of learned helplessness on the left. ("This country's still gonna suck, so why bother?")
• For all the party's flaws, one positive is the sense of responsibility and work ethic. The responsibility to vote is strong within many of them.
• Easily the worst reason, people who are bigoted will walk barefoot on broken glass if that's what it takes to insure a preferential status for themselves at a detriment to others.

If voting were mandatory, Democrats would get 70% of the vote each time. That's part of the reason that it's not mandatory. There are people who profit from maintaining the status quo. And that comes about by having the two parties cancel each other out.
