Rolling for 4* constellations is among some of my biggest regrets due to how many duplicates I get. I pulled 5 dionas today trying to get just one Sayu. I maxed Diona out on her original banner with Childe.

Well I already bragged on the Genshin board but my first 10 pulls on the Yoimiya banner were VERY lucky.


I was close to pity so getting the five star wasn't a surprise. But I was very happy to win the 50/50, and I sure as hell was thrilled to get Sayu so quickly.

Both of them are a lot of fun. Sayu is super useful.

Yoimiya really feels off. That time between when her E wears off and when the CD ends is Tartaglia-esque. I just don't see what she brings to a team comp.

What's weird is that her trial is basically the most ideal setting she can have - with a perfect gear set and her custom weapon. Yet she still feels not right.

And she also has the "not going to permanent banner" disclaimer. I don't get what Mihoyo was thinking.
They should have made her burst cause Fischl C6-style extra damage as AoE firework explosions whenever Yoimiya's pyro attacks hit enemies and cause a huge damage increase for her charged attack multiplied by homing shot count.
Now THAT would be a firework-themed char.

She almost feels like a 4-star character who was made 5-star at the last minute. She's simultaneously too simple to play, too limited in scope and not even the best at her one niche (pyro single target DPS)

Won the 50/50 for Yoimiya. Lots of people not happy with her I see, mainly meta chasers from what I see. Not speaking about anyone here when I say that. Idk when I played her story quest I basically treated her like bow Hu Tao. Not sure when I'll get around to using her but I will eventually. Now to save for the Electro Goddess.

As far as Yoimiya goes, I really don't care about her damage output. She looks fun to play, that's good enough for me. If I pulled characters based solely on their ability to delete enemies, I would've quit pulling after I got Ganyu. I imagine that I can have the same fun with Yoimiya that I'm having with Yanfei, with the added benefit that I finally have a use for the Rust that's been collecting dust in my inventory for months.

I'm f2p-ing it as well. There's stuff here and there that can be challenging depending on your team setup, especially when spenders talk about how easy it is to clear content with four-stars but they have the good cons on characters and your cons are shit. lol
My advice is just to enjoy it without spending or put it on the shelf for a bit and maybe come back later.

Sayu 4/8/8, I'll probably 6/8/8 her and stop there because her normal attacks are garbage outside of claymore advantages. Since most of her damage will likely be from reactions (very frequent swirling, absorption, Kazuha's elemental reaction redesign), I'll likely not bother raising talents beyond 8, but will ascend her to 80/90. I should probably upgrade her Rainslasher to 90, too, coz weapon upgrades are piss cheap with a bit of domain grind.

After using her more, I definitely see her as a powerful character on the level of Albedo/Fischl, especially considering she fills the healer and shred role on top of it. And she is incredibly fun, fast paced.
When it comes to power levels, I assume Venti, Kazuha, Sucrose are far superior, but Sayu is incredible in firework setups.

How does freeze work? It counts as being affected by hydro and cryo throughout its whole duration? Does swirling it only spread the element of highest priority?

Swirls on frozen opponents do cryo damage.

I see, thanks. Good to hear cryo has the higher priority. I guess that means with Kokomi and a frozen enemy, Sayu will be AoE freezing.

The OP combo is actually

Sayu + Barbara + Qiqi + Xiangling

Pyronado plus Qiqi frost plus Barbara's same thing but water and then they all spin around Sayu when she goes Sonic

Sayu seems deceptively good. She has a high skill cap, but at C1 in particular (the later ones help as well) she gains multiple simultaneous utilities.
The passive talent where swirls result in healing is kinda like Jean, and her C6 is kinda like Kazuha.

Prior to C6 I'd recommend a Phys DMG build, but at C6 you basically build her like Kazuha.

As for Yoimiya, I keep playing her trial and I keep coming away with the same conclusion:

While her single-target DPS is higher than C6 Yanfei's, Yanfei has a more complete and consistent kit because she's not reliant on her E to keep her DPS up. Yanfei's one big downside is that her Ult is not really an "attack" - more of a buff. That said, with five seals Yanfei's charged attacks are ridiculously spammable and do faster damage with more AOE range than Yoimiya's.

I honestly think Yanfei is better as a single target pyro ranged DPS.

I scraped together a level 70 Yoimiya with a level 60 bow and she's fucking shredding everything I think people just aren't using her right.

Swirl can't crit but everything else Venti does can.

(Such as absorption infused melt/vaporize)

Venti's burst crits, but the swirls from it dont.
So that means you will deal a lot more damage with his skill, but less with his burst

EDIT:
lv80 Sayu, 401 elemastery, 1944 ATK, 6/8/8 talents.
Over 3400 hp healing every second from tanuki.
Every swirl adds 781 hp to whole group

Sayu is a good healer.

You get a fifth seal at C6, which makes charged attacks free and also does a lot more damage. Combined with her Ult (increases seal charge speed) and E (gives all seals when cast) she basically can perma-spam charged attacks.

The 7 Star Jades Ningguang gets with C6 is pretty nutty too.

Yanfei is 4 seals at C6 (0 seals counts for calculations).

At C6 Yanfei can very quickly deal a ton of damage at once with no stamina consumption at the start by doing
4 seals --> charged attack --> burst --> charged attack --> skill --> charged attack --> attack, attack+charge cancel --> repeat N2C until skill or burst available again

sayu seems like a decent support? Nice explosions and healing. But I just finished leveling that cat loli, and I run kazuha on my main team

I recommend waiting on Yoimiya, people are still in the "no, she's bad!" / "no, she's good!" argument phase.

Sayu is anemo and healer, so she covers venerer debuffing, element spreading and healing slots at once. Another benefit is her heals are very passive, you could drop her burst and just like Fischl it'll sit there throwing anemo explosions every second that can heal characters below 70% hp.
Her skill can be either a very fast kick (good for quick resistence shred), or you can hold it to roll across the field dealing anemo+absorption damage 2x every second, finishing it up with a anemo strong kick.
Her skill basically functions like ayaka/mona dash, except faster and easier to use, 10 sec duration, 11 sec cooldown.

IMO Sayu is worth getting coz she's super fun to play, but her damage output probably will only be good as sub-dps (like Fischl) or in large groups of enemies. Her healing isn't Qiqi tier at C1, but it's great that it happens on the side, immediately after you go below 70% if her burst is active. She'll heal the whole group based on your EM if she's on-field every 2sec with swirl.

Yoimiya seems to have good single target dps, which is also her weakness, in large groups she's bad.

Well you're never going to get Eula level DPS. Maybe single target, but don't expect to damage groups of enemies like her ult fine.

Overall it looks like she's good but not great. I would say if you enjoy the character, definitely pull, you will totally be able to use her everywhere. Her specialty looks to be bosses so she'll probably be very useful against the upcoming new weekly boss in 2.1.

Yes she's very good support. She's probably the best character for overworld exploration and she goes really well with Kazuha. If you get her, you'll probably want to put her in your overworld running around team, and switch in Diona for domains and bosses.

I agree. I would say if you're neutral or better on Yoimiya, pull for Sayu. If you're saving for Raiden and pulling Yoimiya would screw up your plans, skip this banner. Otherwise it's worth it for Sayu alone.

I think she's intended to be a main DPS with the Shimenawa artifact set, or sub DPS with... anything else, I suppose.
