His character, which was only supposed to be a minor character, was the reason the mother of the show left halfway in the final season when the show was supposed to be her show given it was a spin off of another ABC show she appeared on. She hated it was all about the Urkel show and not about the family anymore and finally decided to leave... At that point she'd played Harriet forever. Plus she's said she received a lot of hate for being a popular character on Perfect Strangers. She knows exactly how it feels to be hated on for that.
