Not one person is just selling a used game with it's box still for a decent price?

I swear, the retro market is a pain sometimes. I bet you could have gotten it for cheap (for a Nintendo game) just a few years ago, but now the GCN/DS market must be at full power.

I never played the remakes, the og's were some of my first games. Was hoping to relive some Pokemon magic, but I think I'm going to have to pass, unfortunately. Like, even just getting the cart only is pretty expensive for a used, pretty old game.

I use backlogged but I have literally hundreds of physical video games and it would be nice to ahve a one stop place to see the value of them all

I love Pokemon and own at least one game from every mainline set. Heart Gold, included.

But then like 3 years ago my 13 year old step-nephew asked if he could borrow it. And even though I rarely ever lend games to people, against all instinct I told him sure.
Weeks later I asked for it back, he said he was still playing. Weeks after that I asked again and he said he had to look for it. Weeks later I asked yet again and he said he still needs to find it.

Never got it back. To this day I still hold it against him and don't like the kid lol.

Pokmon White is the best entry in the franchise but HGSS stands out as being very playable with a lot of details like Pokmon following you being really fun.

Pokmon is literally never hard except some old OG Game Boy jank, so difficulty doesn't stand out as a sharp complaint tbh.

Dang, that's rough. It's exactly why I never let people borrow games, just too much of a hassle, and too much stress.

As for those saying the price has always been high, I just figured the recent retro boom for GCN era also came to the 3DS when it comes to cart + box being super expensive nowadays. I mean, I can buy it, but it was more of a "would be nice to spend like 10 bucks on a cart if I have to and play good ol' pokemon." Spending basically 30 on a cart only on such an old game is not really a necessity for me. Sucks to hear that this game basically has never really devalued over time (and in fact, if you have the box, has actually increased since release).

It actually tracks both the listed prices and confirmed sales on some major sites like eBay, so the price is actually a better idea of how much it's currently selling for. Also includes variations like special editions of the game, EU version, lose copies vs cib, etc.

If I had a pc I'd do an excel program with it and get my collection insured, tbh. It's worth about $2000, with the rarest 3 of my games making up over a third of that.

Now that I check, its on Amazon for a fair price if you dont need the box. I might actually order one of these just to have it.

I am sure eventually it will be available digital but probably not on switch. Maybe on the successor of switch

The issues with the level curve have nothing to do with difficulty, and have everything to do with wasting the player's time with mindless grinding. It's poor game design.

Yep. Trainers with low level stuff. In the route after gym 8 with pokemon in the upper 40s, you can catch pokemon as low as level 23. And then you get to Kanto and the route trainers have things up to like, 33. And the gym leaders all have things in the 50s. And then suddenly Red with things in the 80s, in an area with things in the 40s.

That's my big problem. There's no digital alternative as Pokemon has been annoying about making their classics available for a long time.

I can't believe we had to celebrate Pokemon red/blue/yellow finally arriving in the year 2016.

Dang, well, at least you know that it's worth some decent cash if the mood ever strikes. When you say it never left it's box, do you mean it's still sealed too? If so, that'd be a great thing to hold onto for a good amount of years. I bet it'd be worth a pretty penny a decade or two down the line.

Don't believe so and too lazy to check, because I had intentions of using it. Then like many a plan, other things got in the way.

I got lucky last summer. Co worker was selling a 3ds with heart gold, soul silver, white, white 2, and Diamond for 100.
