Because of mutations from people not wanting to get vaccinated. That'd put us back at square one, right? Probably require people to get a second vaccine or something. Seems like at that point, even less people would want to get vaccinated due to misinformation and what not.

Saw the head of the Mayo Clinic and another doc who said the delta variant may have reduced the vax effectiveness by 10%.

Which is why the UK and Israel are doing boosters...

They're still effective though. Just need to get idiots to take it.

If only. I almost feel as if vaccines should be mandated at this point. Require them to be able to shop in certain areas or certain stores, etc. Ostracize the anti-vaxxers from society. They're just bio-terrorists at this point imo

At least in the US it's likely that the Pfizer vaccine is going to be fully FDA approved around early September. That should be significant in getting unvaccinated people to get it.

Yeah I heard that, but I don't have high hopes. If Trump and other (ex)officials already came out and said they were vaxxed, and it didn't do much, I don't think it being FDA approved will either, sadly.

Hopefully it will though

Would also argue that "FDA Approval" means jack all at this point after that Alzheimer's drug fiasco that resulted in many career officials resigning. Like yeah maybe their process for the vaccines was sound but making a serious misstep like they did is just going to give anti-vaxxers more ammunition for their case.

It'll end up being an annual "best guess" vaccine, like the flu one.

I think all this talk about variants is just hysteria from a media which profits from hyping up every miniscule threat and from totalitarians who are afraid of losing their excuse for telling everyone what to do all the time. The vaccine works. If you have it, the pandemic is as over for you as it ever will be.

That's just not true. Variants lower the effectiveness of the Vaccines. and the less people who are vaxxed, the more chances there are of new variants rising.
