I don't really think I'm a comic nerd at all, I know next to nothing that isn't in the movies. I just think the Harley character is kinda thin to basically be the center of three movies. Like somebody said, she's basically a meme machine instead of having actual depth, which was great at first but it's kinda wearing thin on me now.Posting on a message board about the movie so you can analyze it already makes you a bigger nerd than 99% of people watching DC movies! --- It's Reyn Time. ... Like somebody said, she's basically a meme machine instead of having actual depth, which was great at first but it's kinda wearing thin on me now. Post-Joker Harley has depth but there's a catch that she relies on her supporting cast to express it. Her default state is that she's overconfident and self-centered which gets her into trouble she fights her way out of, which is fun for people to write. But you have to give her a conflict in her own desires to go against that. In BoP and TSS she simply doesn't have major reasons to care about the rest of the cast for most of the movie. I do think the scene mentioned earlier I dont think this issue is specific to Harley in the comics, but for adaptations she is weird because the most popular version of her character is the one that has already gone through character development. As opposed to like, Batman, where the most popular version of the character is the one that has undergone zero character development so every adaptation resets him to the edgy loner because people are FOOLS who prefer that to Batdad. --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! ... Man you guys fightin'
As far as my actual thoughts I did really like it, despite dragging in the middle with that Harley scene. Part of it subconciously may just be because Black Widow just came out and was such a safe, boring, mediocre pile of garbage that didn't really have anything going for it at all, so it's the first comic book movie to come out in over a year that has any actual value. Even if that had not been the case I think this still woukd have stood out quite a bit. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Harley in her TV show is great. Best incarnation of the character since Batman TAS. Not a huge fan of her otherwise.

I thought the movie was enjoyable and enjoyably ridiculous.

just saw this movie. it was meh. don't have much to say about it that hasn't already been said a bunch of times in this topic. in short: both GotGs better, tonal shifts bad, harley subplot terrible and should have been cut. also, i thought ratcatcher sucked (seems like she's pretty popular?).
Jesse_Custer posted... I thought it was great and conveys the essence of the comic book medium on film probably better than any other comic book movie. really? scott pilgrim and sin city (i hate this movie, btw - didn't see the second one) felt waaay more like comic books to me. hell, even the original suicide squad was more comic-y, i'd say. --- Geothermal terpsichorean ejectamenta ... I like this new one a lot more. The only value the first one had for basically anybody was I like Will Smith and Harley. Main villain was more fun, the overall cast was more fun and the action/violence were a lot better too

This is a crazy take. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhxD8Lz0Um8 you should watch this video tbqh. i obviously completely disagree with this guy that the OG suicide squad was a great movie, but he still does a good job explaining why it's very comic-y. --- Geothermal terpsichorean ejectamenta ...
