Do you think this is proof that trans athletes do not have an unfair advantage over others?

The IOC say they will set out a policy for participation of transgender women in the following Olympics as the current guidelines in 2015 are not fit for purpose and should be adapted to catch up with advancements in science and testing A push towards each individual sport setting their own rules is one of the likely outcomes to move away from a "one size fits all" approach Laurel made history on becoming the first openly trans athlete to compete at the Olympics and thanked the IOC for their progressive approach as her much debated appearance was not all welcomed, particularly by conservative groups such as Fox News. The 43 y/o transitioned in 2012 crashed out of the women's +87kg weightlifting competition without registering a life as the debate over her inclusion still rages on whether it was even fair if she was to compete in the first place... The current guidelines requires trans women to undergo hormone therapy and suppress testosterone levels "below 10 nanomoles per litre for at least 12 months prior to her first competition".. She transitioned nearly a decade ago and had undergone hormone therapy to reduce her levels since Dr. Richard Budgett, the IOC's medical and science director suggested the new rules will be implemented from here on out after setting a new framework for sports that focuses on safety and fairness. At the time he thought 10 nanomoles per litre was set because they thought it was the lower level for men but now they know it could go down to 7 and women can go higher But Dr. Myron Genel, a Yale endocinologist who studied thet opic and consulted the IOC for 2 decades said the threshold was too high because it was based on old data and not the most sophisticated ways of measuring testosterone and says the one size fits all approach has advantages in some sports over others Hubbard thanked the support she got from back home and for the chance to participate as she realized she did not hit the standard she would have wanted as some on twitter questioned if the media scrutiny played a role in her failure. Canadian Journalist Amanda Jett Knox said "What? Laurel Hubbard, trans athlete was eliminated from the competition after not performing as well as the cis athletes who will be competing at the Olympic finals? Bbbut how is she going to grab all the gold medals with her 'unfair advantage'?". But others maintained their outrage where some believed she THREW the competition just to avoid the backlash and some believed she was just a BAD athlete who couldn't compete with the other women and MOCKED her loss for doing so Chinese weightlifter Z.Y Wang won the competition and brings home gold to China Do you think this is proof that trans athletes do you not have an unfair advantage over others? https://i.imgur.com/K6BFURe.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tKJQs6f.jpg https://i.imgur.com/AvL8bY7.jpg https://i.imgur.com/cE9plmC.png https://i.imgur.com/BQCvSAz.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BXosfAv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/LoJLfQb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WrkobIU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7vU3brT.jpg --- The News Will Continue...For Now call me mrduckbear, sweater monkeys. Give them their own olympics like the special olympicsNo, no, no, this is all wrong. Instead of trying to separate people we need to bring them together. All people, men, women, trans people, and those with disabilities or special needs should all be allowed to compete together in any event. Instead of judging people on superficial stuff we should just let the best of the best be the people who get to shine. ... Copied to Clipboard!
