If you have a 4 month old, then you should be aware of the fact that they sleep for about 16 hours a day. If you cant manage to work while they're asleep, then yea.. you are useless. Taking care of a sleeping infant is easy enough that you should be able to.

What you're saying is sexist; you're assigning a role to an entire gender based of their reproductive ability. You're insinuating that if a woman gives birth they should have to (potentially) sacrifice their job entirely, as opposed to the world moving forward into an age where mothers can do both.

If you're working a Mcjob, obviously dont bring your child to work. But if you're working somewhere like a DMV, Administration office, ect.. it really isnt that big a deal. Plus like someone else said, lots of companies have onsite nurseries; even my highschool did (for both students and teachers).

Where did i say a mother has to be the one watching the kid? Seriously, find it. You might find the part where i mention that ive taken time off to watch my kid. The sexist angle is 100% made up.

And yeah babies sleep a lot. Often in 30-45 minute increments. Then they need diaper changes, to be fed, to be entertained, etc. It is absolutely not cruise control.

Yawn. You're on the side of "sacrifice your career even if an emergency comes up" so I don't really care what you have to say. You can stop now.

My point is youre not getting shit done at work while watching a baby, so you might as well take the sick day (which would be better for your career)

But to be fair, the % of CE with both a career and a child is p low

Well a big problem with this is that sick days aren't a federally required thing that companies have to give you, nor is parental leave

It can definitely kneecap your career to take too much time off, unfortunately

"The United States is one of the only countries in the world and the only OECD member that has not passed laws requiring businesses and corporations to offer paid maternity leave to their employees.[3] As of 2017, there had been no significant change in the proportion of women who received maternity leave in the past 20 years.[4]"

I was shocked when I learned about the lack of maternity and parental leave in the USA. Do you expect that people don't have kids at all? Or only if they are wealthy?

It's not surprising that women would need to make use of a lactation room when at work given that they don't get paid maternity leave.

For comparison : In the UK Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is paid for up to 39 weeks. You get:
  • 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks
  • 151.97 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks

I didnt say it was easy. Dont try to gaslight me, or stick words in my mouth. I'm strictly talking about the type of jobs that have lactation rooms; office jobs. Taking 15 minute breaks to pump/breastfeed every few hours isnt a big deal, and you should be able to get your work done still. When you're taking care of an infant you're not standing over them staring at them the whole time. If you're at home with them you're probably doing dishes, cleaning rooms, etc while they sleep, why cant you instead do your office duties instead?

I don't say this lightly, but if people are not trolling in this topic and they really mean the things that they are saying. It is clear how the culture of a sexual harassment could have in a gaming centered world.

-We have people complaining about the women here.
-Suggesting that people were just dumbfounded about the fact. Which made them go into a woman's area to start with.
-Other people saying just stay at home.
-And even at least on person not understanding why a women would not want someone looking at her doing this.

Once more not to say this lightly, but good god, people are being horrible in this topic.

You are talking about two different scenarios

1. Pumping: 10-30min, some cleanup, youre done.
2. Breastfeeding -> diaper -> playing -> diaper -> ritual to get baby to bed -> diaper ->repeat the ritual -> nap

Seriously have you cared for an infant? You operate on their schedule.

I have; I worked a 3rd shift job and took care of my son while his mother was at work getting less and 6 hours if sleep for over a year. Better question is if YOU have.

Pumping doesnt require much clean up so 15-30 seconds. Diaper change? Maybe 2 minutes if it's a huge mess. Play? Not necessary; they're young enough that you can pop a pacifier in their mouth and get back to work.

And this is only addressing actual breastfeeding. You're completely neglecting the concept of pumping, which doesnt require the child to be anywhere near you, but still needs to be done. You seriously thing you're smarter than me, but... you're not and its fucking hilarious to me.

Folks, dont half ass raising your kids. Take a sick day to take care of them if either you and your spouse have sick days to take.

Also ffs play with your kid, sing to them/read to them/pay attention to them. Dont just stick a pacifier in their mouth and look away until the next diaper like dad of the year over here.

This topic is pretty eye opening as a married Dad good grief.

As for people really caring about the term 'breast feeding room' being used instead of lactation room I'm guessing the only reason they're used a bit interchangeably is because these rooms are also available in public places like shopping malls. It doesn't mean Moms are working full shift with a baby and going in there to breast feed. Good grief guys lol

I was actually gonna ask if Lokison had kids but then I read this:
I have; I worked a 3rd shift job and took care of my son while his mother was at work getting less and 6 hours if sleep for over a year. Better question is if YOU have.

Damn, that sounds pretty shitty.

And I think it's the typical conservative mentality embodied too. "I broke my back doing hard labor so why isn't yours broken too?"

All I gotta say, you got lucky with your kid. If they're sleeping 16 hours and are that chill during the day, it was all dumb luck.

Our son never slept like that. Naps were maybe 30 minutes on average. 45 minutes if we were lucky.

Otherwise, caring for a 4 month old is typically a full-time job unless you're a seasoned pro.

So I'll say this, I'm sorry your life was so hard. No, other people's lives shouldn't be as hard as yours way. I'm sorry you got the raw end of the deal but it just ain't the way life should be, my dude.

I know how a woman's body works. It's just that I've never heard of a place of business having such a thing and OP called it a breastfeeding room so logically you would assume it's a place you go to breastfeed.

Anyway that doesn't make it any better. Why are these women at work if they have newborn babies who are young enough to still be on the tit?
