300+lbs years ago I wasn't. But now at 172lbs I feel great and definitely happy with my physical appearance. I still got alot of work to do though. I'm just getting started.

I'm happy with my body because I'm at my ideal weight, 140 lbs. But at the same time I'm not happy because my genetics put my body fat and bad places, like my belly area. So despite being 140 lb, I still have a belly. And I have a really hard time gaining muscle, I don't know what it is, but it seems like even when I work really hard I just can't seem to put on very much muscle. So in other words, with clothes on I think I look good, but with clothes off I do not have a presentable body, despite being really thin.

I mean it's a slow process but as long as you do the work and eat and sleep as instructed then results are inevitable, just keep the focus on the goal and enjoy the journey

also most importantly don't compare yourself to someone else who's more ripped or anything, genetics is a thing but you can certainly be a much better version of yourself if you're dedicated, so yeah compare yourself only with your previous self, any progress you see will be a pretty good source of motivation

Yeah, but only like 80%. I need to tone up my midsection, but I am struggling with that. (Does anyone know a good exercise to tone your LOWER abs?) I have fairly wide shoulders and I put on muscle up top pretty easily, so I like that. Still, I can relate to what pojr posted.

I used to be really heavy and I lost like 80lbs, so I feel good about that. Some days my face just looks fatter than I would like it to, but I think I overhydrate, so that might have something to do with it.

Fine with my height (~6ft) and weight (138-150), I love my hair, and my face is probably a little bit better than average. Of course, I think we all judge ourselves more harshly than others do.

My biggest issue is night snacking. I usually keep a think of shelled peanuts in my room and often snack while I game before bed. I KNOW this is wrong, but I used to be a very serious alcoholic who would compulsively drink before bed, so its kind of like a former cigarette smoke eating lollipops or something. Replacing one bad thing with another

do you consume a lot of salt? could contribute to water retention which can make your face look a bit swollen

also not sure about a specific exercise for lower abs, I don't do exercises focused on abs too much because I find em a little useless, we usually have to use our core for many compound exercises so it doesn't feel required to do isolated abs exercises

Thats a good call. I might be eating too much salt, but I have cut out things like fast food and chips, so I guess maybe I should get unsalted peanuts from here on out. Peanuts are probably my only go-to snack because I avoid sugar like the plague. Walmart used to have store brand corn flakes with <1g of sugar, but my local store quit carrying them.

I'll try not to get too much into it, because there was a topic I made about it that lasted a month, but at first my diet pretty much sucked. Way too much sugar, almost no nutrition, high sodium because I ate a lot of processed food. That I changed it to more vegetables, more fruits, more chicken, yogurt, things with protein in it.

As far as working out goes, I didn't see a whole lot of improvement. I saw some improvements but very small. And that was from three months of working out. But what was really freaking me out was I was gaining weight, but it felt like I was getting fat rather than muscle. I kept looking at pictures of myself and I didn't look more fit, I just looked more fat. So I hate to admit it but I recently got discouraged from working out and I haven't done it in about a week and a half. Still eating well though

I mean you do wear the fat you eat, might want to look into leaner sources of protein, dairy as a source of protein is kind of a bad idea if you want to build muscle, I personally eat a whole food plant based diet and had pretty decent results, that was after years of being underweight and thinking there was just no way for me to gain weight

so yeah anyway you're probably not going to want to give up meat so just stick to chicken, focus on the dark green variety of vegetables, and just stick to whole plant food for the rest, whole grains, nuts and seed (not too much of those because it's quite high in fat), legumes, fruits and drink water, don't drink your calories if you want to lose fat/weight, just drink water and nothing else (black coffee prob fine)

I've never been handsome, but can't complain about how I've held up.

At age 46, I'm 6'3", 195 lbs. Slight gut/love handles (recently went up a pants size) but nothing you'd notice under an untucked button-down shirt. Still have all of my hair, though it's going gray.

I know people 15 years younger than me who look 10 years older. Obesity/drinking/smoking will age you very quickly

Nope!

I need to lose weight again.

I had lost 50~ pounds late last year, but I kind of fell into a really, really depressive period for several months and didn't feel up to exercising, so I gained a lot of it back. I need to get back on the wagon and work on it again.

I also really need to cut sweets/soda yet again. I have a huge, huge sweet tooth, but it's so unhealthy.
