CDC Confirms That Viral Loads In Vaccinated People With Delta May Be Infectious, So Masks Are Necessary

As the Associated Press notes, Walensky cited data from the last few days, still unpublished, taken from 100 samples from vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals with COVID infections. They found that the amount of virus in the noses and throats of vaccinated infected people was nearly "indistinguishable" from what was found in unvaccinated people, confirming what some experts have suspected. The increased viral load associated with the Delta variant appears to make vaccinated people equal spreaders of the virus. Walensky said that the data was "concerning enough that we feel like we have to act."

Also, even a mild case, as in you are vaccinated and the case is mild, can cause cognitive decline:

One more worry: For the last two days on Twitter, Dr. Feigl-Ding has been stressing studies out of England that suggest that COVID-19 infections appear to cause cognitive declines even among those who have mild or even asymptomatic cases though the cognitive declines were sharper among those who were hospitalized with severe cases.
"Folks gonna level with you I would not want this for myself or anyone I know," Feigl-Ding said. "Death is not the only bad outcome of #COVID19 even if we survive, there are huge chronic consequences... Avoid infection not just hospitalization!"

Yeah, the CDCs previous decision was obviously partly the result of political pressure from many quarters that it was time to get back to normal, which led to a decision which was reckless in public health terms.
Unfortunately, I think they have already let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. Theres going to be at least as much resistance to resuming masking as there was to begin with, but probably more.

As someone alluded to already, the most logical explanation was political pressure to 'get back to normal.' The CDC showed that they weren't above being pressurized during the last year under Trump, and even though Trump is blessedly out of the White House now, I doubt that's really changed.

Anyone with common sense knew at the time that the CDC's no-mask announcement would backfire; even beyond the anti-vaxx crowd who would simply lie about it or not care, too many people were chomping at the bit to declare 'finally, mission accomplished, fuck masks, I'm vaccinated and I don't have to care anymore!' (and honestly I can't entirely blame the latter crowd, even if it was the wrong attitude in the long run).

The vaccine generally works.

Like I said it's overwhelmingly the unvaccinated who are ending up in the hospital.

While some of these are children and immunocompromised people, the overwhelming majority are people who could have, but chose not to get vaccinated.

People can develop problem from wearing their mask too long and if the doctor see nothing can be done to avoid those side affects, then there is the alternative the face visor. Although for the face visor they need evidence from the doctor, so they need to carry their letter with them at all times.
So if a business, police, etc, say you can't enter with the face visor, just show the letter and problem solved.

Obviously CDC has since backtracked and said wear masks but previously that was the mantra. And that wasnt even taking into account children under 12 werent vaccinated and could still catch it and cause a mutation.

I don't doubt that there are legitimate instances where someone cannot wear a mask but these are statistical outliers.

Your initial stance about how it needs to be a choice for everyone regardless of spread indicates how uninformed you are.

If you truly cannot wear a mask, you'd utilize curb side, delivery, etc for essential goods because you'd need to take extra precautions.
