Well think about it, for the opposing political side having the pandemic stick around and kill people means they can use it to attack the controlling party in the polls.
For the cynical and bitter they can get it and spread it to groups of people they hate
For online businesses and other certain corporations it's a massive boom in activity for them this pandemic has been very generous to Amazon for example.

It's kinda not when you put up with american ideals "don't tell me what to do", "Why do I have to be forced to do something that won't affect me" and "This is a country of freedom, if don't want to do this you can't force me so fuck off!" It was bound to become political from the get go in a country like this with or without Trump, America is that guy in the zombie movies who hides his zombie bite from the rest of the survivors until they eventually turn and eat the only competent character in the movie or someone's love interest.

I've mainly been paying attention to the arc of this and the underlying data in the US. When it was in China, I really was just satisfied with knowing it was in China. When it hit Europe, same thing. When it hit Japan, same thing.

When it hit the US, I started paying attention to new case/death counts, where they were happening, hospitalization rates, vaccination rates, etc.

Everything in my area of the US has gone back to normal. Things have been fantastic since everything opened back up.
