It wouldn't work the way anyone thinks it would. The people who commit mass shootings would still be able to easily, legally get a gun. They would just be restricting gun access to people who they deem "a threat" and that would probably have heavy racial and financial bias.

Also the Dems would have an easier time winning elections if they drop gun control.

Im done playing fucking games. Get rid of all these fucking guns. Dont give me any bullshit about how it cant be done and get to work actually trying to stop so many guns from coming into the country and being manufactured. Legal and illegal both, theyre just as deadly regardless.

For gun owners, give them some time. But thats all they get. Stagger the bans. Do generous buyback programs. Use common sense to allow people to have things like legitimate hunting rifles or basic arms for home defense. But beyond that there needs to be a time that it starts to be a crime to have the kind of weapons that you see in warfare that can allow any nut or troll to easily go on a mass shorting spree and kill a bunch of kids.

In an ideal world maybe bad guys with guns would be stopped by good guys with guns but that just is not reality. The more weapons there are, the more often they are used and relied upon.

Enough is enough. Melt them down and use the steel to stop any more buildings from collapsing down on top of sleeping families.

i feel weird about the gun control thing too. ideally, I would snap my fingers and all guns would vanish from existence obviously not gonna happen. Look at the war on drugs, its a huge waste of time and money and drugs are more prevalent than ever. Making something illegal doesnt make it disappear.

hello, I live in a country where laws are far more 'restrictive' aka sensible regarding gun ownership, and I have friends that still have dozens of cool guns. they use them to hunt deer, moose, bear - not as giant machine-gun penises. you need a gun license where you're properly trained to use it, and it takes a month or two. there is always a background check.

of course things happen even with these 'controls', like those awful murders in BC by those two idiots from Port Alberni. still, I find it a far better system than the American system. the only tiny part I might agree with is just the general perspective that it would - by and large - be difficult to change the general attitude Americans have towards guns. It's a different attitude. In Texas, a shop-owner might shoot someone in the head if they try to steal a case of beer. Not the case here.

any cultural change in the USA would have to be gradual. not that laws should be gradual, but the benefit of them would be gradual simply due to attitude and the difficulties of changing a whole culture. and illegal gun availability. there are more legal guns than people in the US...now throw illegal guns into the mix ffs lol ;_;

**edit as for the giant machine gun penis extensions...I understand there are enthusiasts around guns. at least relegate that kind of fun to a shooting range.

tbh, gun control was squarely rooted in racism and the idea of keeping guns out of the hands of minorities.
