Most of it is just typical rap. The subject matter is a bit better than other rappers I guess. Its just more of the same

I don't know how people haven't gotten bored of someone so low effort. He's not bad. He's just boring. Which might be even worse. So many energetic options that actually care to be there.

I disagree that it's just the typical rap, but I'm a Hip-Hop Head, so I have heard a lot of typical rap. Did you just have it on in the background or did you sit there and vibe with it? Drake is a lyrical rapper, with a lot of doubles and triples, so you have to pay attention

With that said, I don't do that myself. I miss a lot of the great stuff Drake as done the first few times I hear a song, and then there are whole songs that go unnoticed because I just blank them out while walking.

Give credit to Drake that he's managed to stay relevant over 10 years.

He's definitely doing something. I can't respect it if I can't figure out what it is. But I do give him credit for pulling it off. You'd think he'd be a more interesting guy to hold the spot that long.

Genuinely curious. What's his best attributes iyo? And what makes him interesting?

I probably won't have anything to add after your response. I'm not gonna hate on him to a fan.

Which body of work from Drake, TC?

Drake hasnt been great since 2015 but everything before that is why hes memorable for all the right reasons

Nowadays though its just tracks for the streaming charts, I guess

I think the opposite. I think everything hes done after and including 2015 is better than before. His old stuff is terrible tbh, either trying too hard to sound like other rappers or just saying really stupid shit.

nowadays hes more clever with his choice of words and provides structure. Instead of sounding like other rappers, other rappers started sounding like him.

Im not a huge fan, but i like songs like Fake Love that mix r&b and rap with good messages

I have to admit, I was one of the "drake haters" on that bandwagon but only because I listened to guys like you TC. Then this one day, I sat down got a few Drake singles from my nephew's laptop and then realized how decent Drake is.

1. Hate Sleeping Alone
2. Fireworks
3. Sandra's Rose
4. Emotionless
5. Pound Cake
6. Too Much
7. Weston Road Flows
8. Over My Dead Body
9. Brand New
10. Shot for Me

Top 10 in no order. I can post more good tracks. Talk to me TC.

Disagree. Juicy J has been relevant for almost 30 years. Same for DMX. Lil Wayne and Jay Z. Eminem has unfortunately been relevant for a long time too.

If anything, fading away after a year or two is reserved for the real one hit wonders.

I've always regarded him as more of a pop artist, and his music just sounds like whatever is popular right then. Like he might have a couple of songs buried in there somewhere that I like, but there's not a lot of consistency and I really don't rock with his radio hits.

Also i always thought it was weird that people got on Iggy's ass for rapping with a fake accent but Drake literally does the same thing lol

Drake makes hits that's all that matters. He's the marvel movie of rap and that's fine with me. I don't need deep meaning in all my songs, sometimes I just wanna listen to some shit that sounds good.

also im dying at Juicy J being relevant for 30 years. Lets not get crazy here.

Drake strikes me as the type of rapper that is groomed (mind the term) and presented as something that is to be sold to you.

He reminds me of a Nelly or an early 50-Cent. The type of rapper that gets crammed down your throat rather than organically finding it's way to your ear.

That's exactly what it was lol. He was a Degrassi star that somehow got picked up by Young Money and pushed by Wayne to stardom

That said, I wouldn't go so far as to say Drake is bad, just not what I'm into. Just nothing about him that stands out to me as a rapper

Three Six Mafia is probably the biggest influence modern trap. Juicy and Paul were dropping hit after hit since Mystic Stylez and this has stayed true through today. Three Six was insanely popular in the 2000s (are we forgetting about Hustle and Flow) and his early 2010 mixtapes like Rubber Band Business laid the blueprint for the next decade.

He absolutely has been a relevant force in the music scene in the past 30 years. It's crazy to suggest otherwise.

Drake is only relevant because he grooms little kids and he learns what's popular from the direct source tbh. His job is only to keep older people up to date with current trends and make bangers out of them.

Even during my change into more fun music I take less serious, I still don't have an ear for Drake. I think there's R&B artists better for that mood and rappers with way more energy output that are good for the alternative mood. His singing is only really impressive on a karaoke level. If you were just around a group of friends or something and didn't know someone could sing. Drake inspires me tho, he's one the only artists I go out my way to tear down >_>. He inspires me to be a hater.

I actually liked Take Care for the first month or 2 after I bought it. But after that, I just couldn't with his music anymore. Even the couple songs I kept from Take Care after that month or 2 wore off.

80% of my playlist is just music for fun now. Drake ain't it. Well, obviously he is. Just not for me.b
