Out of all the jobs I worked in my life, the year I spent on fastfood was up there as one of the hardest jobs I had to work, and i worked outside doing manual labor on most of my jobs.

In that case there are other no skill jobs that are much easier and pay better, the only downside? Harder to get the job.

because you're confusing difficulty with energy consuming.

It's an incredibly easy job, that's why it's low wage and hires teenagers as their first real jobs. You're still on your feet, often working over/near something hot, in an a small area with poor air flow, and dealing with customers which is going to be more physically draining then sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours answering emails or now sitting at home playing video games and answering emails.

okay how was your fantasy land fast food job so different where you weren't doing a task that a 14 year old could do on your feet, in a small area with poor airflow, often with a frier and grill putting out more heat and having to deal with customers.

I worked over night during bar rush, I did grill, front desk, window, gator and make table all at the same a good chunk of the time, considering we only had three people and none were teenagers, things got hectic.

Also teenagers were mostly garbage at the job and barely lasted a few weeks more often than not despite only working five hours a day at most.

Easy isn't about the work but the knowledge.

Programming is actually quite easy.
Issue is to know how to do it you have to learn.

Cooking a burger isn't much to learn. Just put it on the stove and watch it turn certain color.

Yet programmer can goof while compiling and burger cook is in the heat all day standing and stressed.

Programmer paid like 10 times more.

Fast food is a very difficult job and not necessarily that easy to get although now it is due to a severe shortage of people willing to work these jobs for the pay and benefits provided.

America is full of BS propaganda to crap on various workers and justify low wages and harsh working conditions.

It's a job that anyone can be quickly trained to do even if they have no experience, that's typically what people mean by easy.

I don't doubt that fastfood employees have tough working conditions but the tasks are not difficult nor do they require any kind of developed skills.

I don't think "easy" is the right word to describe the chaos that is fast food work. Maybe "simple" would be a better description. What you have to learn for the job isn't complicated, but you're expected to work at such a fast pace that it becomes too stressful for many people and they quit.

Easy to train, applicants are churned and replaced a lot , like no requirements. Doesnt mean its not a physically demanding job. Listen, I get what youre saying. I was a server and then a bartender. But I got both by just showing up and trained for like an hour.

my current job took 2 YEARS before I was able to work by myself.

when i listed the heat you deal with, that should have been the first clue that i've worked it. Since people who don't work fast food don't think about it because on their side of the counter it's nice and air conditioned.

Keep digging that hole, keep proving my point.

Yeah. The job itself isn't hard. You can learn how to do what you need to do in a week or two. It's mostly unreasonable customers and unreasonable bosses that add difficulty.

Slapping a patty on a bun, dropping fries in a fryer, and pushing buttons on a register is considered hard now?

First you have to pull the patties out of the freezer, then move them over to the fridge by the grill, then you set up your other meats and other frozen foods that you cook on the grill, then you put the patties on the grill, usually in a row of four make sure the temperature setting is correct then you score the patties with spatula to make sure they don't fall apart when you transfer them, also make sure to flip at the right time, otherwise one side can get burnt, then once the patties are fully cooked make sure the bread is oiled up and put in the toaster in the right direction , you need to do this before the patties are cooked, then you put cheese if applicable on the patties when it's on the side area, then you grab the bottom bun, put it on top of the patties then slide the patties on the spatula and then slide it off on to the other half of the burger(if you're make person is done on their side).

Tada you made a simple burger.

And yet you buy into propaganda. How many years ago was that anyway? We don't live in a world these jobs only exist to get 16 year olds some spending money. We live in a world where corporate does the research to stretch their adult workers as thin as possible and reward them for hard work by taking away more hours and piling on more responsibilities. All while you deal with piece of shit entitled customers who can't wait and are always looking for a way to get something out of you.

It's not brain surgery, but it's still a job that will leave you exhausted at the end of the day and take a toll both mentally and physically.
