If you read the article about Ed and Lorraine Warren, they're actually known to receive lots of criticism and for being 'storytellers' who just exaggerate claims and make up stupid stories after investing hauntings that later turn out to be dumb flukes too.

Also the Conjuring movies are lame AF. How do people even find these stuff funny...I mean scary?

Doesn't seem to be much talk about it since no one bothers to do their own research.
Seems most people arent actually aware the movies are faking a paranormal case that's even faker than the loch ness monster

All possession movies especially ones based on "real events", are either exploiting people with mental illness or based around scammers

Really? I've almost never heard criticism of the movies. Lots of so-called horror movies also claim to like them lmao. These people have never watched true horror before

I've never paid attention to the movies well enough to know that they were based on real "investigators," but I did find it super gross that they made a movie about a murder case where the killer is some innocent soul who was possessed by a demon.

The movies are pretty entertaining. The whole museum and "cursed object" thing is one of my favorite horror tropes.

Eh I just enjoy them as relatively high-budget horror movies, and the fact that theyve gotten progressively dumber as the franchise has gone on gives them a bizarre kind of charm.

Im aware that the Warrens were/are terrible people but the movies are alright compared to others in the genre and thats enough for me.

It doesn't matter if they were fakes (the supernatural isn't real, so how could they be anything else?), it matters if the movies were good. And I think they were, especially the first Conjuring.

i watch most things horror. i dont care about some arbitrary rl backstory. the media is just entertainment

I've seen every movie of the franchise. They are varying degrees of quality. I actually didn't like conjuring 3 all that much. I dont know why maybe I'm growing out of it. But anyway I do know about the Warrens and their history

Obviously it's all fake. I dont think anyone thinks the movies are real, even people who might have believed in the Warrens. It's all extremely exaggerated versions of stories that already were fake as shit. The most recent movie Conjuring 3, was based on a murder trial that actually happened. Guy was probably mentally ill. The Warrens tried to insert themselves into the court drama to profit off it.

The movie of course, tells a heavily fantastical version of what happened and makes the Warrens look like supernatural heroes

The 3rd movie would have been so much better if more of it focused on the original possession of the kid.

The idea of them hunting down a villain kinda sucked the soul out of it.

The first movie was so good because 90% of it was shit happening in a spooky haunted house, then they discover more and more secrets about it.

I don't think TC realizes movies don't need to be accurate to the good and that most people already know they are scam artists. That doesn't change that the writing and characters are good in the first two and that they do have good scares

I'm sorry but yes, they are scammers. Everyone in the industry back then knew (at least for Ed Warren), that he was scammy as s***. He was even a pedo who was raping an underaged girl at that time

What I hate most is that the Warrens are probably getting loyalty fees from these movies. These s****ty scammers who already scammed thousands of people by writing fake ass fiction books sold off as real stuff, are getting paid even more money and being seen as even more famous now because these rat's ass movies are popularising their stories
