Riding a motorcycle in general. Literally the only thing between you and the road is a helmet and your clothes.

I ride home from work in the dark semi regularly, the only part thats kinda scary is I take almost all very rural roads home and I know their are more deer and other animals out at night. As long as I dont ride like a maniac though, I should be alright.

I swear, this summer more than any other time in my life, my subdivision is filled with asshats that feel like they need to rev their bikes and go flying down a 25mph neighborhood street at 40mph for all of 5 seconds before they need to slow instantly for a turn.

I live in Alaska and the only time you can really use motorcycles is the summer. Every single summer, every person in the city who owns a motorcycle comes out of the woodwork for 3 months and goes nuts

What I don't get is why they think they need to be so loud. I dont understand motorcycles much but I think a lot of the noise is optional. And they all take that option. I think they just want to let everyone know how cool they think they are

That south park episode about motorcycles was so on point

Thats the scariest part about riding a motorcycle though. You dont have to be the one who drives like a maniac to be the one that suffers from it. Just the other day someone I work with was stopped at a traffic light and got hit by someone from behind, almost ended up getting his leg amputated at the hospital. A few years prior a similar thing happened to someone else that I used to work with too, and that guy couldnt walk for months.

Im sure riding is fun but goddamn its nuts to me that people are fine relying on others around them to drive remotely carefully, and that being literally the difference between life and death on any day.

Granted driving a car isnt inherently safe either but you get the point.
