Sounds like NYC rent prices are the real issue. Amazon is paying her $19 an hour which isn't that bad. Do all her co-workers also live in their car, or did they find somewhere outside the city with better rent pricing?

$19 is pretty good but yeah NYC rent is dumb as fuck. Could probably get a decent place with a roommate making the same salary though but it shouldnt have to be like that.

She lives in her car. She can pack and move to whatever city she wants on a dime.

Company pays higher than average wages.

City has higher than average rent because it purposely blocks housing from being built.

The public decides the company is to blame in this situation.

Sounds like a New York problem, not an Amazon problem.

That's 3k higher than the average salary of my town and most people can afford a house here

Move out of the shitty big cities. I live <2 hours away from 2 major ones and it's fantastic. Can drive there when I want to do fun stuff but pay country prices to live

I see on Craig's list a rooms available for $750. When I lived there back in 2012, I was making $500 a week and could save money renting a $575 room. She makes enough a week to cover her rent.

NYC is not a place where you can expect to feasibly live on your own. You need roommates or have a high paying career. And most jobs in NYC aren't high paying careers.

One avenue Amazon could take is setting up dormitories for their workers.

She probably forgets to mention that she has fucked up credit or something. I find it hard to believe that she couldn't at least rent a room with that sort of money. Even if she had to drive a few hours out of the city or something. Something about this story is sus.
