i had it once when it dropped cause it was a buck, then i canceled and got it again to play outer worlds (meh), then canceled...but I just got it again so I can play Yakuza like a dragon and psychonauts 2 later in august

there are probably another five or six games i want to play that i've never gotten around to. Forza horizon, EA games like jedi fallen order, octopath traveler, RE7. the whole rest of the yakuza series. so many games on my steam wishlist i've been waiting for sales when i could've just gotten gamepass

don't sleep on gamepass kids.

it's netflix for games on xbox. Xbox owned studio games are on gamepass permanently from their launch date, many other games launch on gamepass, too. you can browse the library whenever you want, i think.

dude you pay $10 per month and you get a whole library of video games after that

if, hypothetically you play just *two* games on launch (which btw literally every single MS licensed game will be available on launch and that includes bethesda and any studio they own) per year you will get your money's worth

unless you're the kind of person that likes to buy games, own them and have them in your collection--which I get--but i'm not really that way anymore. it literally costs less than netflix.

and if you haven't signed up yet, it's $1 for three months. like, what? it's an insane deal.

well the difference here is that brand new movies aren't on netflix (unless they're netflix originals, but that's not what i mean), and brand new movies also don't cost $60 in order to consume them.

So you're saving a crapload money. and plus video games are a lot harder to, erm "find" on the internet than movies and TV shows.

also saying "i don't know what netflix is" in 2021 is pretty weird bro ngl

It was a mistype and you even quoted the corrected version so dont play this game please

As for the other points, its still plenty easy to find 99% of games on steam. Most games that are epic exclusive arent worth buying anyway e.g. outer worlds

Most games stay on for a very long time/forever. One of the first games I got is Slay the Spire which game out August 2019. First party Microsoft games are always on. Like the entire Forza, Halo, and Gears of War series is on and will stay on. The shortest I've seen was RDR2 which stayed on for 5 months. I guess Rockstar didn't want their game on too long. But other than Rockstar, I don't think I've seen another leave before a year minimum.

Gamepass is one of the best deals in games and I'm considering getting a Series X mainly for the gamepass selection. I have PC and Xbox One, but some games are exclusive to console or I'd rather play with a controller, on my couch in front of my big TV.

those are games you have to pay for or wait for deals and sales. which is fine, i'm not knocking steam...

but paying $120 for a year's worth of gaming is ridiculously good. and judging by the games they have, have had and will have it seems worth like 10x the value if you play games often enough. like, i literally just signed up to play like a dragon and psychonauts 2 which would have cost me upwards of $100 if i played the sales.

Lot of Game Pass games stay on there for over a year or longer. You got plenty of time with most.

Also, I highly, highly suggest playing Spiritfarer to everyone that has Game Pass. It's an incredible game.

i played yakuza 0 on the ps4 like four years ago and loved it. played some of 6, kiwami 1 and 2 and they didn't have quite the same magic. i might go back and try to finish kiwami 2 because people swear the second game has the best story and side stories.

in which case you shouldn't be buying video games at all lol

real talk though. i've never owned an xbox console, i've been sony and nintendo my whole life, but i think gamepass is legit as fuck. microsoft really dropped the ball last gen but this gen i think they might take over. while PS5s are sold out everywhere people can go ahead and play MS exclusives (which now include bethesda, double fine...etc.) on PC day one for only $10/month. it's insanity.

and frankly i'm not too fond of sony or MS exclusives these days (never liked gears or halo, never played forza, i don't care about uncharted, last of us or god of war either) but even the third party support on gamepass is really good. and microsoft seems to actually be *trying* now instead of last gen where they flopped around.

As far as I know, it's not like your saves get deleted. You could play a game on Game pass for as long as you want and if you really love it (and it goes off of Game pass) you could then go buy a retail copy, which is probably now heavily discounted, and then just keep playing.

I was going to say the same thing.

Me, I don't often replay games these days. And if I do and I don't have them, I just buy them in a steam sale or emulate them if they're old enough. I have a bunch of games I bought in a steam sale intending to replay and never did

I get that people are worried that they will start a game and have it taken down. Like others have said they tend to stay on for at least 6 months. PLUS, you get a small discount if you decided to buy a game you like and it's on GamePass. Maybe 15 percent of something?

So if they announce it's leaving (which they do) you can buy it in time at a discount if you want to keep it.

If you have a XBL Gold account, there is no reason not to have Game Pass right now and I'll explain why:

If you have an existing Gold account, signing up for GP automatically converts your subscription at a 1:1 ratio. One year of Gold turns into one year of GP.

Last month I prepaid my Gold subscription up to 2 years and 9 months, then did the $1 dollar for 3 months Game Pass deal. It converted my entire subscription to GP, then added the 3 months from the deal to max me out at 3 years of Game Pass for the same price as Gold + $1.

I would recommend doing this sooner rather than later because the small print says they can change the ratio at any time. But I did it 3 weeks ago and it worked like a charm.

Nope. I currently only have regular Gamepass and I'm able to install EA games.

EDIT: Apparently on console it's different:

Xbox Game Pass is available for $9.99 a month for the Xbox-only version, and the PC version costs $9.99, too. Players who want both can get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and have access to all of the services platforms for $14.99 a month. Microsoft also has a deal with EA Play that allows Game Pass PC and Ultimate subscribers access to EAs library of subscription titles as well.

But I don't have an Xbox console and I'm just playing on PC.

It's supposed to be $1 for 3 months of Game Pass, and then after that it goes to the monthly subscription price. What I did was max out my Gold (I had about 9 months already, so I bought 2 years of Gold), and then do the $1 deal, so it converted my Gold to Game Pass and then added the 3 months. Presumably when my time is up I'll need to start paying the Game Pass price after that.
