You've been captured by the by the Riddler who is placing hostages in cages above boiling acid.

He's already put an old Scottish couple in one, and a young teen in another. Now he is in the process of shoving you into a 3rd cage when suddenly he is attacked by Batgirl. Sending them both tumbling to the floor below in the Riddler's lair. As they tumble he drops a keycard that you quickly pick up.

As their fight ensues Riddler activates the mechanism on the cages to make them slowly decend into the acid. You rush to his computer to try to stop it but there's nothing you can do. The only way to reverse the cages is to insert one-use keycards into the machine for each cage.

These were supposed to come out of lockboxes when Batman solved a riddle, to allow him to save the hostages if he is quick enough. But since he hadn't set that up yet, there's only one keycard present. The one that he dropped when Batgirl took him down.

Batgirl is dealing with Riddler and his goons on another floor. They're under control but she is totally preocupied and unaware of the problem. There's no way she can help in time.

They're single use and there's only one. Which means you can only save one hostage cage. You have about 30-45 seconds to decide before the three hostages are burned alive in agony by the acid.

The old Scottish couple look at you. Hug each other and the wife says "It's okay duck. We've been together more than 45 year. We've had our life. Sein it all. I don't fear being deid. Let the wean go. He's still got lots to live fur."

Her husband holds her close and goes "I love you hen. Always have."

"Yeah! You heard the old farts. So stop screwing around you idiot and get me the fuck out of here. If I wasn't in this cage I'd kick your fat ass for making me wait so long. I can feel my $450 Air Jordans burning from this green shit. Hurry up you manky bastard! Else I'm gonna be barefoot by the time I tiktok this." the young teen squeals at you, sounding like an old duck toy with a broken squeaker.

Its an easier decision since the old couple accepted their death, so the teen

1. Break the keycard in half
2. Stick a half into each machine
3. fail to save either either of them
4. Continue my life guilt free because I tried.

I save the old people and dab on the teen as he goes into the vat.

Prioritizing youth over all else as if they are owed a shot at life or humanity's on the edge of it's seat wondering if that's the next savior just strikes me as naive rainbow fluff. If the old ones got this far living a good life, reward them.
